Force & Destiny: What does this inspire you to do?

By copperbell, in General Discussion

Been wanting to do a Legacy Era game for a while. F&D might just fit the bill.

I think i saw somewhere that someone had tried to stat the Defender corvette and the XS freighter so you may be interested in looking for that. Maybe it was on the gsa website but not sure.(and do add some bunks on that corvette, i always wonder where my companion sleep xD )

Oh i think i saw a mistake in your husband sheet: the double bladed saber has the unwieldy 2 quality too, so pay attention to the agility stat!

I will let him know, thanks a lot!

I don't know the setting or theme yet. We were hoping to try and make a guild from the idea, where we are all people who enjoy RP, but in game RP always seems so restrictive, so we would try and make games out of in game events or even stuff other members would want to RP out with the system. And then, y'know, run some flashpoints and dailies in game because we need credits for Strongholds and a guild ship.

I'd love to see the Defender stats! Our character's stories are tied into my husband's Jedi's ship, the Dawnblabe!

We play on Ebon Hawk, if you ever wanna chat or play with us. I'm Gevi, he's Kerem and obviously we are Republic Side. :D

I would like to try "Jedi Master" game, with 1000 XP or so thrown around.

For our trained knights in the Old Republic era, we gave our Knights 200 extra XP, which seemed to work pretty well. 1k XP may be overdoing it, I could see someone like Grand Master Shan being that skilled, however.

With 310 xp, I was able to get an extra characteristic stat at the bottom of a tree and pick another specialization with a little exp left over.

I would right now like to see a movie trilogy supplement with all the characters from the movies stated up.

Thanks for the heads-up. I haven't read much of that yet, but as I understand it, it all degenerated into a rather messy shades-of-grey civil war? I guess that's not too far from what I had in mind.

At the moment, we have the Empire torn asunder with civil war, the Alliance of Independent Systems trying to set up a New Republic, and the Jedi trying to restore the Old Republic, with themselves as kingmakers and powers behind the throne (and the Sith and Seperatists riding their coat tails). And the Shadow Collective under Savran Sizhran carving itself a big chunk of territory at everyone else's expense (basically the 'Scum and Villainy' faction, including Mandalorians).

I'll keep it minimal then. The following spoilers are plot-related, but reveal little of the primary storyline.

Tensions between the Galactic Alliance and Jedi Order escalate severely on the matters of government oversight of the Order and Jedi interference in Alliance policy. The Jedi Order itself also experiences divisions along military/civilian lines because of these tensions. The situation becomes eerily similar to the final months of the Clone Wars, and the resolution drastically alters the relationship between the Alliance and the Jedi Order, as well as other factions.

Well i'd like to but i play on European side on The Progenitor, and too republic side

Interesting I've been looking at the two KOTOR X Box games having bought the first one and looking at picking up the second precisely because I thought the storyline looks like it could be used once I can get hold of the F&D Beta... well and find a group...

I'd recommend the Steam version of KotOR II if you have a computer that can handle the game...which is like 10 years old now I think? But seriously, there are some really decent third-party mods that make the game a little more complete than it was upon release. The xbox version is fun, great gameplay and cool story ideas, but ulitmately IMO had a very disappointing ending.

Kotor I is also available on iOS devices.

I'm contemplating a game set somewhere in 10 BBY to 5 BBY, pretty much canon setting, with a surviving group of younglings. This can justify just about any species... it's far enough on for the younglings to be "adults" and far enough back that the initial adults aren't of need old. I'm thinking a knight level game, as all my players are well experienced.

To spend my money on x-wing instead. :P

As for kotor and kotor 2 i think there are programs who make them compatible with modern OS like window 7.

Anyway they are very god games, and full of mods. I am curious about the mods with the restored content for kotor 2, i know people was working on that but no idea how far they have got.

Main usage for me will be to do some hefty revisions to Ways of the Force in light of the new material offered.

Otherwise, going to apply the Morality mechanic to my F/S street rat turned Minor Jedi and spend some of his unspent XP on snagging the Ataru spec.

Actually, we really don't need this. I'm pretty sure any 'official' stats for Yoda, Vader, Boba Fett etc, would provoke more fan rage than the lightsaber rules :)

Their attitude seems to be 'if you need stats, make them up' according to what you need. (For example, we have a Han Solo in his mid-fifties, a bit faded from his prime but still up for one last big adventure).

Interesting that so far the only two movie characters have been statted are Lando and Lobot in JoY, and the stats there are 'not a full profile' but only what is necessary to run the adventure (notably, Lando is lacking Piloting skills).

I'll keep it minimal then. The following spoilers are plot-related, but reveal little of the primary storyline.

Yes, that sounds eerily similar to what we have. It also sounds more gritty and realistic I guess.

An unexpected result of all this is that each of our three groups of PCs all have different anatagonists and 'bad guys'. Our version of the Empire doesn't much care about force-users running around, it has its hands full with the Alliance, but our Jedi faction is very much hunting apostates and 'pagan' force-traditions. I'm basically using the Inquisitor rules to stat the Jedi and Sith who are hunting Luke and the PCs.

My wife and I play together and I think a fun idea would be to make a Nightsister for her and a Zabrak bodyguard for her to adventure with. We could be on the run, expelled from the order, banished for breaking the Law,... The two could go rogue, acting as guns for hire or bounty hunters. The storyline's are endless. Still waiting to but F/D but excited at what I've read.

I am really looking forward to grabbing Guardian: Protector. Will round out what Gand has been doing nicely and no need for a glow stick.

Gand has grown to be a protector of sorts for the people of the GM made planet he calls home. As we move into AoR, I will approach our GM and ask about adding F&D for those of us that are interested. Time will tell, but we may have to wait for the F&D CRB before we do that. Considering we both dislike using betas.

Actually, toying with coming up with a mixed EotE/AoR/F&D crew of characters that are starting out at Knight-level of play. Not sure of the party make-up at this point will be. They'll probably never see play, but it'd be a fun intellectual exercise.

I hope to see something similar at my table. Since it's the main reason I'm buying into this whole 3 "standalone" games thing I sure as hell hope it happens at any rate :) Otherwise when this thing is over I'm gonna have about 30 lonely books on the shelf.

I have a very eclectic group of players. Many of whom have no interest in Jedi (weirdos), Which is why I want to run a game in the Legacy era. Plenty of each facet for everyone. Now I just need to come up with a good epic story that will last me a few years.

Out of curiosity can you pull off a Swordmaster style edge character by using the Force & Destiny Beta Career as their primary career?

I'm thinking someone ordinarily armed with say a vibrosword who eventually hunts down a couple of training sabers and remotes to train properly but doesn't come clean about their true career until some important point so it could easily be laughed off as simply she's been training that long and hard that she's naturally that good but doesn't necessarily mean she's a force user.

Have to say I can't wait to see this released so I can pick up a copy!

Even wondering if its worth picking up a couple of spares for some friends of mine one of whom tends towards jedi characters even if he's more inclined to the dark side... :P

There is a sword in the equipment section that uses the Lightsaber skill. So you can effectively use a sword with any of the lightsaber specialzations. Combine that with the Makashi Duelist and you have a pretty neat basis for a Swashbuckler.

Warrior/Aggressor, though you may want to tack on Marauder for even more close-combat badassery. As Kaosae noted, there's a couple sword options in the book, and you can certainly make use of the vibro-greatsword that's offered in Dangerous Covenants to go Kurgan on your enemies' sorry butts.

Well some of you have bought the book, others are waiting on their copy whilst the rest wait with baited breath for it to be released so we can all discover what the latest Beta reveals!

*bated breath

Bated means held or stopped by effort.

I won't say F&D sparked my interest in this, rather Rebels did. But having a "jedi" and a padawan in my campaign looks like fun.
