Two core sets anyone?

I believe I will thanks! My little monthly toy budget is about $200, so one of these months soon I need to go all out on ARMADA I reckon.

I would like to get 2 core sets but I'm not sure if I'll be able to afford it or if its even necessary considering that there will be expansions as well. Also.... that's a huge box!
Yeah I am going to wait to see what our FFG boys do. I love that we can buy ships in their own expansions.
I do want extras of the SWAG, particularly that fancy range ruler thing.
Hopefully we'll have the rulers as 3rd party products and be able to purchase the dice separately.
The decision to either pick 2 core set or 1 core and 1 of each expension depends on if they give the same cards with the single ship pack or new ones like they did with X-Wing.
I want 2 Victory class SD for sure, but can hardly justify a 3rd one since i don't think I would be able to field 3 unless I don't take any fighters.
Victory Class II (85pts) x2
Tie Figther Squadron (9pts) x5
Howlrunner (18pts)
67 pts left for Admiral and upgrades
Yeah, once the other ships and stuff come up I'll be putting a pre-order with Miniature Market. They consistently price at 33% off which mean that assuming they release the starter models as expansions with unique cards (extremely likely) it'll cost me around $200 for everything and it'll be only 1 starter for me.
I think I recall them saying at the in-flight presentation that the stand alone ships have new pilots and upgrades. There was so much into that my brain and wallet will be hurting for months so I could be wrong.

I wish I could order from MM. They have good prices but their international shipping rates are just ridiculous. I end up paying more than would compared to other online merchants unless I live in the US, in which case MM is great!

If this is true, and I kind of assume it is. Given the prices of ships and points for standard gamesI don't think a 2nd core set will make as much sense as it does for X-Wing.
3 VSD's is really questionable, and since you already have 2 (core set and the expansion) you're getting a 3rd you may never want. I expect the VSD will cos the same as the Assault Frigate Mk II, so that's effectively $40 you wasted... sorta kinda.
I figure the VSD is 40 (same as Assault Mk II), the Neb is 30 (same as Gladiator), the Vette I'm guessing is 15. The Fighter squads are $2.50 each. So you're getting $110 worth of mini's in the core. But seeing how you don't really need or maybe even can use a 3rd VSD, and will not most likely need that extra 6 Ties and 4 X-Wings, because you get both in the fighter pack with the other fighter types... It's not nearly as good of a deal for the 2nd core.
FYI - CSI also on preorder for core sets, $67.99

Edited by dojimasterI normally go with MM myself, but this time I think I'm going with CSI and sell them a dual land or 2 to help pay for the stuff I want.
Thanks for the cool responses gang!
Okay you have convinced me. I will get one core set and then get the extra goodies in Expansions.
I might be loving ARMADA as much as X-Wing and Epic.

Uhhhh, I seem to be getting a lower price from CSI.... being a long standing customer and having a slightly higher discount... an additional 10% off on purchases over $100. ![]()

Yeah - I didn't pay that price either, but since discounts vary, I thought it prudent to simply state their posted price.
I have never, ever pre-ordered anything. At all.
Until today...
I just wish CSI had had the expansions listed. But I figure they will fill the preorders for the game in the order they came in, and I didn't want to wait till next summer for my copy.

I got this when I added two sets: Total: $133.26, which includes free shipping of course.

I love MM, and it's great that they are local to me as well.

Probably the best bet to get two. I haven't run the numbers yet but I always like each player to have their own move templates, markers, dice, etc and X-Wing starters were the best deal. Plus who doesn't want two of each of those capital ships?

I am going to keep my self in check... for a little while and see if our FFG boys release SWAG. If not then I will go ahead and get that second set because like you say, we need the extra rules-swag stuff goodies.

Totally agree.
The thing is that I'm afraid Armada will sell out before I get a chance to place an order, due to the amount of interest from all of us on these boards.
I might just bite the bullet and buy a set through FFG.

We are in the two-puh-cent off club.

When converted to GBP thats half the RRP over here in the UK (I've heard it will be £80 which is $130). Unfortunately the shipping cost to this country almost doubles it again ![]()
