"Surprise Surprise It's Lando in... Distress"

The Rebels were scouting out a staging area in the last place they thought the Empire would look. The Empire was testing out a new weapons platform in the last place they thought the Rebels would be. The asteroid field that was once Alderaan.

Lando, Chewie, and Nien Nunb stayed in the clear while Garven, "Dutch", and Lt. Blount went in to look around. They were immediately met by five full speed Academy Pilots and a flanking "Dark Curse". Somehow Lando was able to hit "Dark Curse" at long range and take out the Tie's Stealth Device. The X, the Y, and the E started to thin out the swarm suffering shield damage on the Y alone. "Dutch" had laughed when the Lieutenant requested Assault Missiles before they left for the mission. He wasn't laughing now.

The rest of the Rebels stopped laughing when Rexlar Brath, the Opportunist that he is, fired his new Heavy Laser Cannon at long range and killed Vander in action with Direct Hits.

Although they were in shock, the Rebels were a seasoned enough crew to know that the only answer to an ambush was to fight through it. The Tie Fighters were nearly wiped out by the time it was over - along with the Falcon. Chewie kept the old girl alive and shielded after another big shot by Brath. A follow up shot left Lando a Stunned Pilot having to deal with a Minor Explosion, a maze of asteroids, and one blocking Tie. They survived, but Nien Nunb still doesn't want to speak any gibberish about it.

In the chaos of the final melee Rex got cocky and failed a K-turn. Garven was able to strip the shields and hurt the Defender enough to keep it from reengaging.

The Rebels won the encounter but the loss of "Dutch" and the discovery of the Empire's new weapon didn't leave any space for a celebration.
