Armada: Can 1 side field all fighters?

By R22, in X-Wing

First, sorry for posting about Armada here. I'm aware it has its own forum but, since this is the dogfighting game forum, I thought it wold be interesting to hear your thoughts.

The Rebels frequently relied on their hyperdrives and had fewer capital ships. While capital v. capital battles will be the norm, what about fielding a bunch of Rebel fighter squadrons vs. Imperial capital ships (with their fighters)? Now that we know the core set comes with X-wings and Y-wings (as well as the various Imperial TIEs) and the 'escort' ability features prominently on Rebel ships*, this sounds awesome. *Escort says that fighters within range 1 of bombers must be engaged before the bombers can be. Sick. Anyway, if hyperdrive rules are also there, Rebel ships can be popping in on different turns. (Eventual) A-wings can hit Interceptors while X-wings escort Y-wings and B-wings. I think that would make for an awesome game scenario and really bring home the desperation of Rebel fighters trying to stop the might of the Empire.

I'm curious too, but this might be better discussed in the Armada forum. :)

Keep in mind that you're required to field one commander in your fleet. (Source is from the Team Covenant demo with one of the game designers.) Since we don't know much about the game I have no idea if there will be commanders in squadrons, so I'm assuming you will need at least one capital ship in your fleet.

To the game that shall nott be named you will go...

I just wanted the X-wing'ers opinions! I'm assuming we're the crowd that is more interested in fighters but still find such epic, er, huge, er armada sized battles cool. Sounds like the kind of challenge X-wing'ers would be interested in. [ejects from thread]

Should I post questions about D&D Attack Wing here, since it's a dog dragon-fighting game that also uses the same system?
