FFG Dice App

By Azul, in X-Wing

It'd be nice if FFG would just release their dice app for free. They already make some decent money off the game itself, and I've been programming dice apps since my Q-Basic days. I doubt people would use it that much, but at least they would have the option if they wanted to try it out.

For me, one of the best parts of the game is dice rolling. I play video games. They're fun, but actually getting to touch something is remarkably more enjoyable. Anyone who's played chess in real life vs an app will tell you the same thing. The tactile sensation is huge. Forget dice apps. If I needed one, I'd write one up real quick. But that's just not the same.

Edit: Plus I just really love dice. Dunno why.

Free would be nice but I imagine that FFG had to pay a company to do it for them. Not cheap. Plus they do give you a " free " version in every starter set.

I actually bought the thing. It's okay... Really the benefit is for the RPG where you need a ton of dice.

The dice app is fun, handy, and well worth the $5. Do I use it a lot for actual gaming? Not really (though I DID use it alot when playing the EotE Beta before the actual dice were released). I use it for X-Wing when I'm wanting some groovy sound effects on occasion.

Still fun to have.
