For the first time with X-wing I find myself thinking, "Wow... that's terrible."

Neither do I (as far as the sculpt goes) - But I'd bet dollars to pesos that's not final paint... The splotchy black just doesn't look right.

Looks great to me. I'm sure it'll get a little extra care with the paint between now and release. Its a pretty good wait before this ship hits shelves.

You know what the Star Viper looks like right? Cause that looks right to me... I mean, it is perfectly ok not to like the design of the ship itself fundamentally, but as a sculpt, it seems accurate and in-line to the rest of the ships to me... FFG have been pretty consistent on this front it seems to me, this is no particular exception to my eye... ymmv, but I don't see a problem personally...

The paint looks a little strange to me, but the sculpt is fine.

Given, I'm not very familiar with the ship, but it looks ok to me. Also, I think the 19.99 price comes from the physical size of the mini...sure it fits on a small base, but it's way larger than a x-wing or a wing

I don't think the sculpt is all that bad however the paint looks a sloppy. This might just be because this is a one off design. After every ship FFG has put out so far the very last thing I am worried about is a that they would put out a less than quality mini.

That's probably the final paint. They haven't been that amazing on the painting front yet. You need to retouch them yourself if you want to go pro mode.

All I can say about this thread is...thanks for posting the awesome picture. (Too bad you had to comment on it as well.)

The paint job is my only issue, but that is a test model. I'm sure the machines will make a smoother transition from brand new to gnarly used finish. The black on light gray is a bit too harsh without some blending.

The general shape looks right but it sure needs a lot more refinement before actually getting released.

This will take about 3 layers of paint to fix. I'm doing mine shiny metallic and the glazed green.

When I saw the paint job I just had to remind myself that these guys are space pirates, what their ship looked like on the outside didn't really matter to them. As long as it had an engine and it could fly, they would pilot scrap if it would get them where they needed to go.

The only thing close to wrong with it is the Dark Sun mark on it,shouldv been ZC! I still love it though!!!
