11 point z-95?

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

So I've been thinking about the ships that will be re-used. Can we expect them to carbon copy the Y-Wing and Z-95 Generics for the SAV(Scum and Villainy) Faction? Since there are 2 in the pack (Which makes it look more like a new core-set or a starter, than simply a typical expansion or aces), I'm expecting that they will keep the point costs similar, but not exact. Unfortunate too, because I had almost hoped they'd perhaps give us the option of a Y-Wing Swarm. Well, maybe they will.... I mean perhaps they give us a Turret slot that ALSO acts as negative point cost, similar to the A-Wing's refit. But I doubt it, since they are only including one Y-Wing in the pack.

What if they changed up the Z-95 for example and made the lowest cost a PS 0 ship for 11! (Granted you can only have 8 of any ship tho... right?)

plz no.

just make it different faction.

Seems logic to me.

plz no.

just make it different faction.

What?

Maybe they'll just ship it with an overlay sticker that will change it to Bandit Squadron Pilot.

In all seriousness, perhaps the generic will be cheaper and come without a missile slot?

They could be different if they wanted. Even the dials.

My only issue with changing the dials would be that that is the thing that really makes ships unique. Once you have the dial, you can play the ship. That's how the game really differentiates between the many ships in the game, so from a game point of view, it becomes difficult to call a Y-wing a Y-wing if it doesn't fly the same as the other Y-wings. Unfortunately, from a mechanics point of view, everything is arbitrary anyway. You can play this game with just bases and it works just as well. It is how the bases move that sets them apart from others.

I'm gunna call something now: Y-wing will be PS 1 & 3 on the generics same with the Headhunter ( one under the PS of rebel ones ) but the specials will be good. I have a feeling

I'm curious about what will happen re: The Nashta Pup

You'd think Bossk would be a near-certainty for the S&V faction, but a dual Hound's Tooth/Nashta Pup kit makes no sense if there's already a S&V repaint for the Z-95. So I'm wondering if Bossk will appear in the initial S&V release as a pilot, and then reappear later (becoming, to my knowledge, the first unique card that is a pilot in both instances, rather than a pilot and a crew).

Huge ships haven't had named pilots so far, though, and at 62m the YV-666 is a bit big for a large. I expect he'll be crew on it if it happens.

edit: Actually, 62m should put it at roughly the length of the transport in 1/270th, they wouldn't even have to scale it down.

Good point. Although part of me hopes they would just scale it down/keep it Decimator-sized so it's kosher for regular games. I already have two Epic ships I never get to use.

Edit: After some Wookiepediaing, it seems The Hound's Tooth is actually closer in size to the Decimator than it is to the GR-75. It would still be pretty gigantic for the large ship base, but it also has that weird design where the back third of the ship isn't very substantial. If it makes it, I think it might be as a large rather than a huge.

The Z-95 shown is PS3. Presumably there is also a PS1. 11 points?

Could happen. 8 z swarm isn't exactly killing the meta right now...9 probably wouldn't break it. It might go down as the least fun list to fly ever.

I don't know. If someone had the guts to bring an 8 Z-95 Swarm to GenCon in the Top 64 I bet they would have a good chance at winning. 8 ships would chew up a Fat Han/Chewie no problem.

9 ships vs 8 is instantly 25% better. And if there is an 11 point PS1 then the PS3 might be 12 points.

All they would have to do is add more upgrade options to let it stay 12 points, a torp slot, for example. I seriously doubt ships will ever go below 12 as long as 100 pts remains tournament standard.

Can I hope for Z95-mods? (scum only)

For example: (not fleshed out/playtested but to get a taste of what I mean)

Z95 training/basic: no missile option/PS1 (or even 0?) @ 11 pts. Perhaps a hard cap of 2 or 4? To avoid 9 of them buggers. ;)

Z95 torp: missile slot swapped with torpedo slot (same 12 pts if PS2)

Z95 lightning: engine upgrade/boost incorporated. No target lock. EPT option provided the EPT cost is 1 as from PS4 or so. (pts? no clue :P)

Stuff like that.
