Anyone see a way to combine this with EotE?

By cikeo, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I think doing this could make this game far more enticing.

Absolutly!

Even if we don't figure out some fancy way to convert the EotE rules: the tiles, the miniatures, all the cards and tiny bits and pieces will support your "normal" EotE experience in a great way.

I am really excited!

Yeah, the minis alone should be able to work really well with the RPG's.Now I just need to decide if I buy this before Armada.

I have already combined X-Wing minis with EotE. There is no reason why the stuff for Imperial Assault can't be used as gaming aids for EotE. I already use the old WotC star wars minis as it is for visualizing encounters.

I'm pretty sure at this point you can make a giant campaign leading from Armada down into X-Wing and then down into Imp Assault.

mission 1: infiltrate the imperial base and steal a lambda class shuttle. (played in imperial assault)

mission 2: link up with x wing escorts and avoid imperial tie fighter patrols (played as x-wing)

mission 3: use the captured shuttle to enter and sabotage a star destroyer during a battle (played as armada)

mission 4: confront lord vader on the bridge of the star destroyer (played in Age of rebellion rpg)

I know this is nit-picking, but I see the same scale problem with these tiles as with the Descent tiles. Everything on the tiles seem small in scale to the miniatures making them look huge.

I realize that the tile cards have to fit in the box, but many of their games (Gears of War included) have very small, confined map graphics in relation to the miniatures. I wish they would rethink this design.

Hmm i didn't notice it right away. Doesn't bother me much either. (unlike a rebel blockade runner nearly half the size of the star destroyer and noo musn't rant! musn't turn this thread into another epic ship argument!)

Before Armada? They are two very different games. I vote for Armada but it's totally up to you. That's the great thing about FFG - massive variety in games.

I know EotE isn't built for miniatures and maps, but I'll DEFINITELY be buying some of these - even if I only use the minis for basic placement in tactical EotE combat, painted up they'll add some fun bling to the game.
And who knows? Maybe I'll even like the game that the minis are packaged with ;)

Bravo FFG you sneaky bastards! Between this, Armada, X-Wing and EotE*, you pretty much have all my toy budget secured for the next decade or so...

*and all your fancy board games, and, and, and...

Actually using maps and minis really enhances out EOTE games. There are a lot of great maps and minis.

As I have said elsewhere, the range bands (in my opinion) offer the greatest obstacle. However, it's only an issue if you group wants to make it an issue. Visual aids are great tools, even if they're not to scale. While, as the GM, you have a clear idea as to what is happening in the scene, the players' picture might not be so clear.

I wonder how close to scale those maps in the Beginner game is? It'd be kind of cool if you could use the minis on the Krayt Fang.

My group has been using x-wing range rulers for our range bands, which comes out to 4 squars per range band. Since the IA scenary is more condensed space wise we may reduce that to 2 squars per range band.
