My new secrecy deck

By Mndela, in Strategy and deck-building

It runs very very good. Not to play solo (but anyway, it could, though with lucky). I have tested with 2 player or 3 players in several scenarios. It works pretty well.

Heroes:

Sam

Pippin (lore)

Allies (20):

Gandalf core x3

Ithilien tracker x3

Rivendell Scour x3

Ithilien Lookout x3

Dúnedain Wanderer x2

Faramir x2

Ithilien Archer x2

Bill Pony x2

Attachments (12):

Resourceful x3

Ranger Bow x3

Leaf Brooch x2

Fast Hitch x2

Hobbit Cloak x2

Events (18):

Timely Aid x3

Needful to Know x3

Out of the Wild x2

Risk Some Light x3

Noiseless Movement x2

Swift and Silent x2

Peace, and Thought x3

Daeron's Runes x2

It seems weak, but you end the game with 10 allies at least in only 6 rounds (more or less).

Good cards for first hand: Resourceful and Peace and Thought.

New combos: Leaf Brooch with Swift and Silent and Noiseless Movement (you can play them for free each round -if you are in secrecy-); Ithilien Lookout with Out of Wild (when you dont like the card you have seen) or with Needful to Know (when you can decrease your threat pretty well). Also thilien Lookout is a good ally to attach to him the bow. Rivendell Scout: i love to play him for free at first round (like Bill the Pony).

Other good plays: Gandalf (to decrease threat or draw cards, it depends of your plannings); Faramir is a really boost when you have 6 allies (or more) in play. (To play a lot of allies seems hard, but you will see it will be easy). For example, Timely Aid, sometimes you only put into play a decent ally with it, but no problem, it is good (you will notice), even for free if Sam has the brooch.

You have a lot of trackers to attach the bows, so it is not problem (you will draw good cards with Peace and Thought and engaging enemies with Pippin).

Maybe one change: Anborn by Pony. It could be.

Problems: if you lose secrecy ^^. Maybe you need some willpower of friends the 2 or 3 first rounds. But no more.

Veredict: i like this deck, really. It is almost all secrecy!

I ran similar deck with those heroes and spirit Glorfindel for solo. It was solid and did very well even in NM play.

Very cool deck. Ithillien Lookout is really good. I like playing secrecy with these cards, because it is very exciting to see what cards show up in opening hand. When most cards are secrecy there is usually something good to pick from that can be played right away.

Without Glorfindel you start with 14 threat level. You have a good space to play secrecy cards even if encounter cards raise your threat.

No Very Good Tales? That is always a winner when you can play free allies or secrecy allies.

Only it has 20 allies. If i use Good Tales it must have 25 allies or more. In adittion, as i said, in the middle of the game you have yet a lot of allies, while your friends only have 1 or 2. ^^

Well you say your deck is not so strong for solo, my similar deck with Glorfindel is good for solo with a similar deck list.

Nice deck! I threw together a very similar one yesterday and was able to beat The Morgul Vale solo, though that is a pretty odd quest compared to most. I took a long time setting up before sniping Murzag with Ranger Bows, and then dominated Alcaron and the Nazgul in a similar manner. Noiseless Movement and Fresh Tracks were essential since the latter captains have quite low engagement costs. I did notice that Leaf Brooch and A Very Good Tale weren't really necessary, but will probably play a couple more games before fiddling much.

I felt like as long as I avoided combat, I was able to quest decently well between Gildor/Sam/Pippin and whatever other allies were on hand.
