Is the Rebel Transport expansion worth it?

By shaner, in X-Wing

I found one for 55 bucks. Wondering if it is worth it. Are there a lot of unique upgrades?

Honestly I believe it is worth it. It introduces more missions, has some possibly fun play modes for games with friends and introduces Epic play witch I have to say is quite awesome.

$55 isn't a very good deal. You can get it from Miniture Market for $41 right now + shipping, which even then still is less then $55.

Retail price they're only $60

SPACE WHALE IS BEAUTIFUL

Don't make him sad :(

Its worth it you get an xwing repaint, and 4 unique xwing pilots, and new droids as well. And the transport. Its chok-full-o- content. Prob more so than the corvette.

I have no interest in playing with humungous ships, but the promise of more x-wing pilots and droids makes me happy :)

Tarn Mison is my current favorite x-wing pilot. I haven't gotten an epic game in with the transport yet, but I think its a worthwhile purchase.

I have this exact same question. Thanks for asking it. Will subscribe.

I got one for the X wing pilots and upgrades, and may use the Galactic Whale as an obstacle. the upgrades are cool and the pilots help flesh out the X wings. overall the best 40 bucks you can spend.

Not sure how much current English-American money is atm...

I got mine for £33 which I figured is £12 for an xwing and £21 for space whale... Looking at it that way, space whale is defo worth it! Cheaper then a falcon, adds in new missions, bigger battles and lots of plastic!

I think current conversion is add half the pound again and you have American. so 33 = right around 50 American, and the only place to get it for 41 bucks is Miniatures Market, they typically have everything at a third off

I actually really dig the Transport for its own sake. I've got 2. :)

If anyone wants a transport without the X-wing, I'd sell mine. I hardly play Epic, and I really like Tarn. That's about it.

I got one, and I wish I was flying it more. It's definitely awesome for stressing opponents out and then hacking their systems. Unfortunately, my scene is mostly into 6a100pntDMs. But once I get to do some more campaign play, I think it'll be worth it.

And, yeah, the re-painted X-Wing with its pilots and the Flechette Torpedoes are great to have.

The space whale & missions are good on their own, but those extra xwing pilots and the droids really make it a must have IMO. All the pilots are very good and the droids allow for some awesome combos. The alternate paint job is nice too, that model is always my first choice if I have an xwing in my build.

Which droids are they again?

The Transport is really worth it if you like playing Cinematic battles and special scenarios with friends. The campaign is very nice and adds a new dimension to the game. I have played the campaign and it was memorable, with lots of fun and interesting moments... Here you can see my battle report of the last scenario of that campaign: scenario H3.

The collectible aspect is also not negligible.

If you only want to play competitive games (tournaments and such) then my guess is that it won't be interesting enough for you.

Which droids are they again?

R4-D6, R5-P9, R2-D6 and R3-A2

Is the Transport itself worth it? Honestly, with the lack of news about Empire Huge ships, I would say no. Seems like everyone's Epic ships are collecting dust.

Are the 100pt tournament legal cards worth it? Maybe. R3-A2 is a staple in stress control lists. R2-D6 combos great with Hobbie, the other X-Wing that comes with the Transport, but I haven't seen it used in many other lists. Jek Porkins is, however, an incredibly fun pilot to fly when you kit him out, but not seen in tournaments much.

With Rebel Aces, Wave 5, and now Wave 6 on the horizon, I would advise against it if money is a concern. You'll get much, much more from $55 worth of future expansions.

The transport is well worth it. I'm still trying to get friends to agree on a date for the campaign though.

worth it for the xwing and cards... also makes better 'asteroids' than the card ones and often use it as a 'disabled' transport the rebels are guarding as a scenario...

Makes games a bit more interesting with more '3d scenery'.

Plus like others say its got its epic play uses.

Thanks everyone. Good points.
