Game 1:
Played an easy going casual guy named Bob. He was running Wedge, Ten Numb + Autoblaster + ?, Etahn + VI. He set up in the middle, angled toward my daggers and bandit (in my right corner) aimed through a gap in the asteroids. I lined Corran up in the middle to work through a line of asteroids and come around behind him. He didnt have many options to do anything about Corran with the asteroids unless he wanted to eat the brunt of my squad with his flank turned, so he smartly shot the gap quickly toward my daggers and was able to keep Corran out of it for a round. I was being cautious with him just in case my opponent wanted to get crazy and turn southward after Corran. The first two combat rounds couldn't really have gone better. He took out a Bandit I believe, I did some heavy damage to Ten. Corran got a shot at wedge and blew it. A furball happened. Corran got fully behind his squad and unloaded, double-tap focus and TL. Wedge and Ten were gone and it was cleanup time. Took a couple rounds to chase down Etahn. Was a good freindly smashmouth game. Corran was the MVP. 1-0.
Game 2:
Faced my first falcon build. Han+VI+Merc+3PO I think. 4 Bandits. I gave him iniative thinking I might be able to suss out where he would put Han, but he staggered his Bandits all across the board. So I had to just put everyone together in my right corner. He, of course, put Han in the opposite corner. I took a direct left turn with everyone and ran at Han. He progressed everyone straight ahead. I wasn't falling for the Bandit trap. I was sure he wanted me to angle through the middle to get to Han and he was going to jam me up with those Bandits. I kept going straight across the bottom. In the first few exchanges, I focused on Han, stripping shields and getting him down to a few hull. Corran was wiped from the board, taking 4 damage because I forgot my **** R7. Han made his way to my side and worked his way down along the bottom of the map. My Bs, who had angled up to get initial shots at him, turned to try to keep fire on Han as he raced by. On the last chance before Han was able to outrun the daggers and make me bail to attack mostly undamaged Zs, one of them got a range 3 shot that took him down. The Daggers got extra dodgy at this point and managed to take down a Z even though they were badly out of position. Match went to time. Had a shot in the final round to take out a Z and pull a draw, but came up short. His 36 pts to my 24 points left. A fantastic game on both sides, with me aided by nimble daggers. 1-1.
Game 3:
Played Sable Gryphon. He had a miniswarm of 2 obsidians and Dark Curse, Doom Shuttle, and a shuttle with FCS, Gunner, tactician maybe. He lined up miniswarm on my left, doom in the middle, buzz saw on my right. I lined up on my left corner. He zoomed the buzzsaw down toward the middle and I saw an opportunity to do a fly-by with Corran, angle right and zip right by the the buzzsaw double-tapping it on the way. I couldn't quite keep him out of the doom shuttles way and took a vader hit, but made it by doing heavy damage to the buzzsaw with 2 range 1 attacks. The daggers in the meantime only turned slightly, first taking potshots at the miniswarm, then turning toward the vader shuttle. The dispatched both the shuttles while I ignored the miniswarm. My b-wings were again all dodgy, not taking too much damage in return fire, but my Z went down. The rest of the match was Sable mostly outflying me, me revealing a red while stressed, and me target locking Dark Curse like an idiot. But i had him totally outgunned at this point with the shuttles gone. I could tell I was getting worn down after only 3 games and it really showed in my next two matches. I won but can't remember if it went to time or I cleared off the mini-swarm.
The next two matches I'm not going to detail. One was a super-falcon, one was Phildo with Whisper and two stress shuttles. In both matches, I tried shooting the gap again with Corran and paid the price. Against SuperHan Corran fired only 1 shot and I was tidily wiped as my daggers vainly attempted to chase down Han. Against Phildo, I angled him toward the middle at Whisper and used and asteroid for shelter when he came up on Corrans side. I thought for sure Whisper couldn't fit a Decloak to get behind Corran due to an asteroid and would have to stay in the fray, but he fit and then was behind me. It was open season as the shuttles stressed me and whisper chewed my squad from behind. I was tired and rushed up the board too much in this game against the stalling shuttles. I should have pulled some shenanigans on my side of the board, but didnt. Between that and Phildo's good maneuvering with Whisper, it was a massacre.
I dropped after these two games. My piloting had really gone downhill, I was forcing the issue too much and taking too many risks with Corran. I've only flown the squad a couple times before this and I realized that Corran couldn't flank well enough the way I'd equipped him, forcing me into rapid fly-bys and paying the price for it. And the rest of the squad felt kind of hapless once he was gone.
