Armada Core Set vs Wave 1

By any2cards, in Star Wars: Armada

Yeah, we're now likely looking over $300 for 1 of everything in the first wave.

1 of everything will be $210 retail.

Core set $100

Gladiator #30

Assault Mk II $40

Imp Fighter $20

Reb Fighter $20

Total = $210

That said, I''m not sure that would make for a 300 point list... The demo's are right around 125 points, the 2 other ships... I'd guess the Gladiator would be 60ish, and the Assault Mk 2 will be 75ish.

That means both lists will be right around 200, then figure fighters so still 250ish.

Those are the final prices ? Hmm rather expensive in my eyes when they turn them out to euros.

Those are the listed prices on the cards in the FFG cases at Gencon. That's full retail. Who pays full retail?

It looks like I'm very slowly going to be adding to this collection. I usually buy the X-Wing waves outright, but between Wave 6, this and Imperial Assault, Fantasy Flight is competing with themselves for my money.

That one of everything statement was for the additional upgrades that are likely to be only in the individual starter expansions.

Ok, I was thinking just 1 of everything. I'm not sure at this point if I'd buy an extra VSD and Nebulon or not. Can see extra CR-90s if they're cheep enough. Guess it depends on what comes with the expansions.

Are you assuming that you can't buy the Nebulan B, CR-90 and Victory separately?

No that's assuming 1 of every ship, as I said above.

No worries. I see how it could have been taken incorrectly :)

CSI has Star Wars Armada listed for $67.99.

It might be time for me to consider cashing in on a couple of my dual lands...

My head hurts after today's excitement, and trying to decode what the heck the above sentence means ...

"Let me explain... No wait there's no time, let me sum up"

Dual lands were something you got in the very early editions of Magic the Gathering. the last set they were in, was Revised edition, which came out in 1994. 4th edition which came out in 1995 didn't have them.

But they're still legal to use, and quite nice cards, so they go for quite a lot of money. Some of them going for as much as $165 or more.

Cool Stuff Inc will buy those cards and actually give you 25% more in store credit. So 1 or 2 of my cards could possibly pay for most of list for Armada.

All I know about Magic (the card game that is) is that it is a card game, and I can spell it.

I think it is cool that you have held on to some cards that may allow you to not only sell them for value (+25%) and can get you what you want in mini's. Kind of like found money. Sweet. :D

Now I have a collection of cars that I could sell, but I don't think I would need 50,000 core sets ... :P

The question I need answered is what is the best way to get 4 VSDs. 4 VSDIs must be played at least once.

Can't play with 4 VSD's in a standard game... 3 is the max you can fit, due to the commander card you have to have as part of your list.

3x 75 point VSD I = 225. Commander is 25-35 per the demo video, so you're at 250. Even 3 VSD's is pushing it I think. Not many points left over for fighters and upgrades there.

2 VSD's and 2 Gladiator's might work, depending on how many points the Gladiators are.

Of course, then you decide to hold a 1000 point casual event, and your need for VSDs grows linearally.

That's also when the SSD comes into play (sorry, couldn't resist) :D

I plan to field at least 2 VSD and 3-4 Gladiators at launch. If they had ISD's id be snapping them up. I put $300 away right after they announce all of Wave 1 in preparation for how much of this stuff im going to buy. Not to mention the 4-5 Fighter packs ill need to buy.

Ahh hell, you can never have too many good looking minis ... :P

My bank account, wife and available space to store stuff disagrees :)

LOL. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only wife who actually would love to see more minis arriving home...

I think my wife enjoys seeing the minis for games like Star Wars, she just has no interest in playing tactical games.

Where did they state you needed a commander?

Do you have an available twin sister?

Where did they state you needed a commander?

The designer says that in the demo video posted by Team Covenant. Commanders are 25-35 pt range.

Fail.
