I honestly think the angry green guy will gladly pay up. This third faction is not forced on any one and re-uses some ships... Something he was open minded to.

Im hyper cool about it too.

I'm been working on house rules to allow mercs/pirates for a little while... as i said few of the firespray pilots made any sense being 'imperial' (Kath scarlet raids the imperials at least once) and having battered y wings and z95s escorting firesprays and other large bounty hunter ships is *exactly* what i would have done if i was ffg

You basically realise the game cant really handle capital ships without underscaling them... so you sensibly do a fleet game.

You then revitalise the dynamics of IMP vs REB by throwing a 3rd faction to account for into the mix.

What i wanted, if i was still in wargames marketing *exactly* what i would have done with the game.

Total win on my part.

They are implementing it pretty much exactly as I would expect. This is good.

With regards to 'balance' things are less likely to be one sided with three factions.

At the mo its a seesaw... a good reb thing comes up, you learn to counter it, a good imp thing comes up likewise.

Putting in third faction will mean less one trick pony fleets as you'll have to come up with a squadron that can counter more threat options, be more diverse.

In the whole i think it will improve the game and also give some people the 'be a nasty git' option they have wanted ... they dont want to be Imperials... thats too legal,.. they want to be pirates!
