IG-2000

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

Here's hoping Jabba the Hutt will have his own starfighter. They make Hutt-sized starfighters, right?

Greedo shot first. Period

I can't wait to yell out

"IG-88, YOU RUST BUCKET!"

I know what you're attempting to quote. Sadly, the proper name to use in the quote is 8T-88.

The Dark Forces team did a terrible job choosing a memorable name.

Is there any pictures of the other two new ships yet?

i have a feeling FFG will release a new update on the website soon. They already have one up for the ground combat game.

Meh- Trandoshans all look the same :D

That's specist!

Hmm...it looks like 3-1-4-4 Focus, Target Lock, Barrel Roll, Evade.

According to the article on Scum and Villainy, The Aggressor is 3-3-4-4 with Focus, TL, Boost and Barrel Roll. All of the pilots are skill 6 and, I think, IG-88 A-D. The D version is 36 points and the other three will be, IMO, pretty close to that cost as well, depending on their pilot ability. I think that the coolest part of this expansion is the IG2000 title. It allows you to use the pilot abilities of other ships that have the IG2000 title.

The most challenging parts of the IG2000 are going to be the lack of crew and the forward firing arc. It shoots like a Shuttle, but won't have the Gunner to ensure it sticks its attacks. Will be interesting to see how the other pilots help compensate for that.

White 1K turn.

A man can dream.

Would we agree that Segnor's Loop is even better?

The IG-2000 looks like almost too much fun...

What other new ships? Only new ships are the Star Viper, M3-A, and IG-2000. Z95 and Y-wing get repaints, the Firespray and HWK-290 are available for the faction via cards in Most Wanted, but do not get repaints or new models.

Well, i made that post before Scum and Villainy was put up. That was just what i thought i saw. And all of the IG pilots are 36.

I agree, i just didn't know what crazy maneuver would be able to pull at the time i posted it ;)

No problem, just being thorough.

It has a system slot and the Boost Action Stock. IG-88D can perform the new Segnor's Loop maneuver with a turn template instead of a banked template, but has the option to choose which. The non-unique IG-2000 title allows you to share pilot abilities with the other ships with the title, and IG-88D at least has an EPT, I'd expect the rest to.

Cheap Z-95 or M3-A with Wingman

We now officially have an arc dodging large base, that can likely arc dodge pretty reliably. Not to mention, if you DO get it in arc, it has 3 agility and 8 total HP protecting 3 attack. Ridiculous. And when I say ridiculous, I mean it in the best way possible. I can't wait to see what other pilot abilities are.

....beep.

After looking at these things a little I think they are going to be amazing amazing amazing.

One can reasonably expect that all 4 pilots will have the exact same cost. One can also expect that with 2 cannons equipped, you will SOMEHOW have the option to fire them both in the same round. Assuming you put the 36 point IG-2000 with 2 HLC's, that puts the ship at exactly 50 points. So with 100 points you have 2 of these guys, both firing twice.... 4 HLC's firing for the alpha strike at range 3 with no boost to defensive dice.... is pretty strong. Imagine all 4 of them in an epic game unloading on a Corvette.... they'd take it out in a single turn!

My assumption here is that one of the IG-88 pilot abilities is the ability to fire 2 cannon weapons at the same time. I could be dead wrong though.

I doubt you can fire both cannons at once, that would be super OP. I think it's more you take two, and you use the best one in the situation. Like taking HLC with auto blaster. Use the HLC at range 2-3, and the auto blaster at range 1.

If that is the case I'll be terribly disappointed. There is SOOOO little need for two cannon slots when you already have your base weapon value of 3, (4 dice at range 1), that the ONLY reasonable thing I can see, is them letting you fire both. Maybe in two separate attacks (like gunner) or in one combined HUGE attack - which would be ZOMG amazing - and would give rise to unpopular upgrades like R4-D6 - who might finally see the light of day.

Keep in mind we'll most likely be seeing new cannons this wave too. I think I saw a Flechette Cannon mentioned somewhere

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the pilots has a gunner like effect though, and there might be something that handles having 2 cannon slots and makes a benefit for it, but I doubt you'll get to shoot twice with the cannons, might be something more of a combination effect or just options because I personally can't see any benefit in dumping at least 6 points into having 2 cannons.

that said I imagine there will be a pilot for each of the main abilities in the game, someone that affects shooting. Another who can probably reroll a defense die or built in sensor jammer/luke (pilot). And then I wouldn't doubt an action passer to be the third unknown one

Well, don't forget the Ion cannon, never mind the new ones coming with the S&V ships. Could produce some interesting situational options. I mean, even if only one of the pilots had the theoretical ability to fire two cannon weapons in the same combat phase, I don't think even 14 points would be enough of a drawback on an 8 dice secondary weapon attack. There'd have to be something else to it.

In the Team Covenant interview the designers said IG-2000 was going to be like nothing else in the game though, so regardless of what it ends up capable of it should be interesting...

Maybe you can't equip the same cannon twice (like modifications)? That would stop the dual HLC combo, but it would be sweet to fire a HLC and Ion cannon in the same turn.

I'm just glad the IG-2000 doesn't have a crew slot. Can you imagine recon specialist on it?

I wonder if there would be a way to fire the 2 cannons in linked mode?
