In game sound FX!

By Gadge, in X-Wing

I'm utterly rubbish at making tie fighter noises but I have found that its little effort and loads of fun to have the starwars.com soundboard open during a game so for particularly good kills or manouvres you can make the noises.

I usually keep it open on 'x wing vs tie fighter' but there are sound effects for most the ships and characters lifted directly from the films.

I always use a playlist with tracks solely from the Star Wars trilogy (recently I may have let one or two prequels in....)

But this does just add that little bit extra. I like how you can put them together to make a small scene. Adds a bit more depth. Thanks for the find!

I tend to leave it open on the dogfight effects and then if anyone blows up...or pulls off an amazing manouvre or gets a critical in we play the appropriate sound effect. You can't do it all the time as it would put about 15 minutes onto the length of your game :)

I took the soundtrack & effects from X-Wing Alliance, converted them to .wav files and play them from my phone when anything ridiculous happens*

*in other words, every 30 seconds

I'll see if i can get that as an iphone app. I have 'star wars dice' but tbh it takes more time than using real dice unless you're flying identical ships!
