Minor and not so minor repaints.

By Gadge, in X-Wing

While i think the stock minis out the box are a great gaming standard i've shied away from doing major repaints as one of the things I love about x wing is i spend 90 per cent of my time playing it 10 per cent painting it.... whereas with warhammer it's the other way around.

I did repaint Kath Scarlet entirely for my wifes force (yeah i've got a gamer wife.. i know thats rare and i know i'm lucky :) )

Anyway here are a few. Mainly its just engine glow (shuttle and firesprays) but the Corvettes red engine bands were asymetric and it bugged me so I removed the engines, repostitioned them and while i was there made them 'film orange' (or as close as i could get). I also put some 'glow' on the bridge, some more blaster marks and made the scanner and turrets a bit more interesting...added a bit more red here and there etc.

Gave my transport some colour bands too to unify the force look.

Anyway, here they are, hope you like them

Firespray (slave 1 and Lambda)

The shuttle also had the guns redone and some fleet markings, an aurebesh 'H' for my surname and 'Harbinger Fleet' (all ships from the ISD harbinger in my game world) so as not to get them mixed up with mates.

Loads of ships have tiny additions like all my xwings have different coloured astromechs but you can barely tell in pics!

Even minor paint jobs can make a piece look ten times better than right out of the box.

Agreed, for me its the engines, especially on the large and huge ships.

My falcon and transport have glowing blue engines painted as well. It's not so noticable on the fighters but bigger ships look odd with flat grey engines

I also like my ships in pairs so before I was able to get extra interceptors i put my own blood stripes on my TIE/int s . Masked them up , used foundry madder red and against 'factory' imperial aces you just cant tell the difference.

I just have to stop myself going overboard and doing too much as I just dont have time for another system that needs much painting. I've a 'lead pile' of unpainted minis as it is!
