Suppose there is a store that hosts X-Wing casual play on Wednesday nights. There are usually 3-8 people there (depending on the day), but it is known that there are at least a few people in the community who play X-Wing, who would like to play in X-Wing events, but who are unavailable on Wednesday nights.

Would it be a good idea for the store to also host X-Wing casual play events on Saturdays? Are there any drawbacks to hosting X-Wing casual play events on two different days a week? Note that by casual play, I mean pick-up games where there are no prizes or rankings involved. It's all for fun.

In my area, I know of three stores who have regular X-Wing-playing times once a week, and another that seems to have it once every other week.

I honestly think that there's nothing inherently bad about having it twice a week. It really would be up to the demand for X-Wing time from your particular community.

Another factor is the store's willingness to host, and scarcity of playing tables. In one store in my area, there is a customer who is kind of the go-to guy for the weekly event. At the other store, they just set out a 'reserved' marker on two tables, and leave it at that.

Yes, basically.

If you have enough players to have 2 days a week you lucky bugger.

If you don't have enough then it may divide your play groups and actually reduce numbers. Best bet is to put up a poll on the store noticeboard if it has one or it's facebook group.

Unless the store is just packed with events on other days/weekends, why not just organize some kind of open play thing yourself? Communicate with other players, see if anyone wants to get games in on an alternate day, check to make sure there will be some table space available and run with it.

If i could play twice a week itd be heaven. =D

We've got X-Wing 1-2 days a week, in two different stores.

Fairly usual I'd say.
