The Great Debate #48: .45 Automatic vs. Enchanted Knife

So the question here is simply: +1 combat checks vs. magicl. I personally would choose the .45 automatic as it's a strong enough weapon even if it's your only weapon. The knife, however, is a better weapon if you have a one handed physical weapon or a two handed physical weapon. But considering you don't know what you have, I'd go with the automatic. What about you?

Previous Great Debates

p.s. I've noticed that after over 40 great debates coming up with new ideas is pretty hard...

With all due respect, I think the interesting ideas started to dry up after debate 9.

I think I'd rather have the gun. Tough choice.

"Bringing a knife to a gunfight" is a popular way to describe being ill-prepared.

But non of the monsters use guns...

The gun, definantly. Against a resistant monster it's only 1 point less than the knife and it's 1 point more most of the time.

I didn't think of it that way. I guess the only issue is against an immune monster. But they tend to be just terrible all round anyway.

It's a good thing that gun is one of my fixed possessions. But I will get that knife should the biggest monster roadblock have physical resistance/immunity

Isn't the question kinda of null because there is rarely, if ever, a time in Arkham where you gain both a common item and a magical item in the same turn? Its more of a point when you are forced to discard. I think these two items are so close together its not much of a debate. I would just take both and get the +7 to combat check against non-immune/resistance monsters. This would be more of a problem if Arkham had a carry limit like Talisman ect.
