YT-1300 - whats the deal? Show a good build.

By Kepler, in X-Wing

Han solo:

So you may reroll all the attack dice, but isn´t that too much of a gamble? What dice results would you effectively opt to reroll? Instances of 0-1 hits? He seems overly priced too for a 3 attack.

Chewie:

Extremely tanky with Threepio

Lando: ?!

Vanilla: viable?

What are the common synergies with other pilots & upgrades? Basically - whats the deal with the YT-1300s?

Cheers,

Kepler

If you haven't taken a focus action. Usually because you've taken the evade action from the millenium falcon card. You would reroll any rolls that contain 2-3 blanks or 2-3 eyes or a mixture of blanks and eyes. This re-roll hopefully gives you something more favourable.

Then you'd equip either Luke or Gunner so if they've evaded your first attack you get a second again re-rolling the dice if the blanks and eyes out number the hits and crits.

As for Lando I see him as a free PTL for another ship. Especially combined with someone who also passes on actions like Cracken or Horton

Hmm you haven't researched much it seems.

try HSF: Han Solo, Gunner, Marksmanship, Chewbacca. Engine Upgrade as well if you feel the need. Shoots 1st in most instances at PS9, Chewie keeps you alive a bit longer. When you attack if the dice are all blanks use Han's ability to reroll them all, if you get some hits and your opponent dodges then gunner kicks in and you do it again. Marksman works on the 1st and second shot when Gunner triggers to give you a crit so pretty much every round you should be dishing out at average a hit and a crit. Expensive but so consistent.

For Chewie try: Chewbacca, Determination, Gunner, C3P0, Millenium Falcon. Hardest **** ship there is to kill and still dishes out pretty consistent damage each turn. Can work better with PTL if you can fit the points since you could TL or Focus and Evade every round.

For the vanillia Outer Rim Smuggler, look up the BlockORS lists.

Chewie is the current meta-tank: Millennium Falcon Title, Determination, C3PO, PtL, Predator, Recon Specialist, Gunner, various combinations of the above.

Lando provides a level of action economy, provided you do green maneuvers, and provided target is at range 1. His ability has a pretty limited scope, but synergises well with Nien Numb.

Han is the basis of the popular Han Shoots First (HSF) build. His "risk vs reward" re-rolls synergise well with offensive upgrades like Marksmanship, Mercenary Co-Pilot & Gunner, giving him great potential damage output.

All the Falcon builds can really benefit from movement enhancers like the Engine Upgrade mod and Expert Handling (although this has been nerfed somewhat in the recent FAQ update).

Chewbacca+C3PO & MF-title means a very, very durable large ship.

Gunner upgrade makes damage output consistent.

Add 4x Z95 for numbers (both red dice and hp/shields) to round off a boring (IMO) but very tough to face build.

Drop the Talas to Bandits & give Han PtL, maybe? Nothing worse than only being able to do one action when you really want to do two..

I have been using Han with C3PO (and the various other upgrades mentioned above). This is pretty awesome, but most of my trouble comes when facing mini-swarms of TIE fighters. Has anyone tried Han with Flight Instructor? The 1 guaranteed C3PO evade result is great, but multiple rerolls against low pilot skill ships seems like it may be helpful.

The trick is to fly behind the swarm and circle, sniping them as you go. Lots of shots vs the Falcon's limited agility dice is it's weakness, avoid the joust.

I prefer Talas to bandits and use predator (yes yes, i know Han skill, the point is that if you get to Luke´s shooting, you are basically doing a TL + Focus), as you can take advantadge of it even stressed or using dodge/engine, and you don't need to clear the stress every turn, which makes you very predictable imho.

So it just dawned on me how determination and chewie can work. I glossed over it at first cause I thought that since chewie makes all crits normal hits, determination won't do anything. But if you get to look at the crit and if it's a ship crit you just get rid of it or flip it down if it's a non ship crit then that is awesome!

How about putting a tactical jammer on a falcon, with biggs (stealth device) and a hawk (Jan Ors) flying behind in tight formation? Thats 4 defense dice + 1 evade token (focus for evade Jan Ors) + falcon taking a crit (if necessary) that the Imperial ships HAVE to fight through, as long as you can keep formation and hide behind the falcon.

Draw Their Fire

Millenium Falcon

Tactical Jammer

Rebel Operative (Hawk)

Ion Cannon Turret

Could opt for blaster turret instead.

Sneaky build?

Doh!

I've like only just realised that with C3P0 you can guess '0' as the number of evade results... hence the guaranteed evade, you either dont get one and get one free or you get one on the die and dont get 3p0s!

I thought it had to actually be 'the amount of evade faces that would turn up' in the sense that you had to guess at least 1 when using him. He's infintiely more useful now

I feel really dim now.

Oh yes! I've been a strong advocate of the Determined Wookie combo for a while now. It won't trigger that often but when it does, it is powerful. I mean, the card does the same as it would for any other pilot, but since Chewie is all about survivability, it's a nice extra protection.
