Asteroid tokens lost

By Jaden Ckast, in X-Wing

Anyone know of a place to get asteroid tokens, I seem to have lost mine from the last tourney :( I checked eBay but couldn't find any. Only option would be to buy another core set which I don't need.

Send ffg an e-mail just be sure to use the right form.

Just borrow a set of asteroids from a friend, and outline them on some cardboard. Then cut it out. Paint it and make it pretty.

I did the same on some plastic and screwed some painted pieces of sea sponge on them for some 3D asteroids.

Ya I sent it to customer service I'm guessing that's the right spot?

Would those be tournament legal?

They wouldn't... but you could always just use your opponents asteroids I suppose...yes?

Yes I was thinking that only thing is I have run into at least 1 player in the tournaments who doesn't like asteroids so if I got paired against him we would just use no asteroids haha. My other option is using the transport or corvette as obstacles if the TO let's me during casual events but tournaments are not allowed.

I don't think you are allowed to NOT use asteroids

Edit: nevermind I found it under setup in the tournament. Missed that.

I've heard of some TOs that allow leaving out asteroids. I'd hate that, and it would make that tournament one not played by the official tournament rules.

PM me your address, I have a set I could send you. No charge, just have an extra set.

just buy some lava rock + some bases + wire which equals more more awesome asteroids

You'll wanna have regular asteroids under those though so you can have the official game piece for reference and, when you land on one, the game piece for setting the ship on. So you'll still need the asteroids

Or, at least something with the same shape. I still put my normal asteroids underneath my 3D asteroids when I play. It helps when one of my Academy Pilots proves that he didn't pass Basic Flying 101.

Ya I actually did that except I got glued into one of the holes in the lava rock with the rod and then sprayed it with gunmetal colored plastidip that's 5 bucks at Home Depot. Gives it a nice grey asteroid color with holes that actually look like an asteroids because the plastidip rubberizes. It looks pretty good. You could prolly do a thinner layer than I did tho to get some of the lava rock color to show through if you don't like all grey. But again I still need the tokens to place them on top of to be official for tournaments like oneway said.

Give em a wash of black and it will make them pop, the watered down black will fill the holes and shallow spots and wash over the grey to darken that a little and give more depth..

Black plasti dip or some type of paint that will stick to the plastidip?

Use a water based model paint, like Vallejo paints, and thin it with water, then use a wide brush and aply liberally.. though, I'm not sure how that dip stuff will work with paint...

Ya I'll have to test it, it's basically a rubber paint is how I can best describe it. It's really cool stuff actually but it goes on wet and then takes on a hardened rubbery state when dry.

When you get your replacements, color the edges with a Sharpie/Paint/CrayolaMarker so that you can always tell they are yours. I got the idea from a local player and ended up doing it with my Asteroids, and Movement Templates (before I upgraded to custom text ones). One guy even did his dials in that way.

I may get some to do some experiments.. lol

That sounded very imperial like haha

Lol... I am an imperial player...

Now, we're going to give you a shot, you come see us in a few days and let us know if you feel funny...

Lol

Careful with coloring the sides of the asteroids with sharpie or paint, since a rules-lawyer/nazi could say that is modifying the token, which is against the tournament rules. So for that instance I have one set blackened and one set clean...just in case.
