I would agree that I would love to have more Alpha and Avenger Squadron pilot cards! That I could get behind!
I have a sneaking suspicion Rebel Aces may put us in the same boat with A-Wings and B-Wings...

It doesn't. It has cards and templates for the same generics that are in the standard pack.
I was a fan that the ships (+cardboard and dials) are only $7/14. I'm used to paying ~$12 at my FLGS, so I was thinking it was about half off... then I realized that if I'm buying online, I could get the entire ship online for $10, and have extra cards or even put them on Ebay for $1 each and make a profit. *shrug. Someone has to take the first step into it though.
$7? we could almost buy our own ship for that!
The hobby absolutely needs this to grow....separate sale of cards and ships.
This game is already growing so fast that FFG is still having troubles keeping up with demand.
Separate sales of cards and ships however won't do much to make it grow faster. A secondary market just isn't going to work real well in this game.
There's no luck or randomness in what cards you get, and no rarity. So it's not like you can buy a case and sell off everything making the most money off the rare cards like you do with MtG.
Also the ships are by and large not going to work without the cards. If I buy a YT-2400 or E-Wing, how many cards that come with it am I really going to be willing to part with? Unique pilots, that I only need 1 maybe 2 of. But for the upgrades and the like, how many extra Adv Sensors am I really going to have? Or Heavy Laser Cannons, or Push the Limits.
Most people are going to want the vast majority of the cards they get, because there just aren't that many duplicates out there, and how much is a ship with no cards really worth to most people?
Edited by VanorDMWell, this will be nice for those that want to buy upgrade cards. Me, I figure I'll paint the extra ship for fun..... once I get through my current mound of gray unpainted minis.
....that's probably going to be a while.
Same here. I recently started playing Zombicide and have a TON of stuff left to paint still.
This is very interesting. It help one to see which upgrade is good to deploy on your ships. It acts sort of like an in-direct poll (looking at the cost for the card and which are sold out).

Not really. As others have pointed out, Expose is currently $3 and determination is only $1. Determination is one of the best single point EPTs... Expose is currently 100% useless. But Expose only comes in the Slave 1, and there's only 1 copy of it in the box.
It makes sense for secondary retailers to do this. By splitting up expansions into individual items they can make more money by providing the consumer only what they want out of an expansion without the full cost of the rest of the expansion. I was wondering where I could find someone that was doing it. It can be a lot cheaper to buy things this way.
I couldn't see myself paying more than a buck or two just to get more upgrade cards. I rather pay the full price of the expansion and get ALL the cards it comes with, plus another nice ship.
If C3PO was there it would be well worth it if you don't want a CR90

What if the card is selling for $40?
I think its great they are trying this...
As for the prices, well they will be what the market can support. Even at $7 a card could be acceptable price to someone. Depends on the expansion, shipping costs and other time/cost sinks like reselling models etc, you could still save money on that card by paying $7.
If you were to open 10 shuttle expansions and could only sell the Advanced Sensors then you would have to get at least $30 for each card.
Now the fact TC is doing it is actually pretty good for prices... They might have more benefit like wholesale pricing and customers that want only models. Heck I would probably buy a Falcon or 2 just to put on my desk if they were $10 or something.

What if the card is selling for $40?
well considering that the only retailer that can be found to be selling C-3PO separately is always sold out at $40 clearly there are enough people.
I'm certainly considering it if they do get in in stock as I have 0% interest in Epic and this is the only way to get C-3PO. better to pay $40 for something than $90. Also telling someone to buy it and sell the rest doesn't hold water as this is the reason C-3PO is worth so much in the first place.
Additionally, they are yet to reprint any unique upgrade cards so it is very unlikely that C-3PO will ever get reprinted in another more accessible expansion pack.
Who knows though, If I make enough noise about it they might actually just do that like that have done with PTL and Advanced Sensors recently but I'm not holding my breath.

I think he was asking if it would be worth it to the poster? It certainly wouldn't be to me....I would just fork over th rest of the cash for the cr90 model and the other cards.
But that's me
I think it's weird that they can sell them.
Not that there's anything wrong with, say, eBaying or even stretching it to trading, but my first knee-jerk reaction tells me that it's not possible for someone to turn around and make a profit off of these cards that doesn't have permission from FFG to do so.
Obviously there's no legal issue about doing it, I just thought that if this were to ever happen it would be sold from FFG themselves, not TeamCovenant of all places.

At $40 probably not for me, but I'm not the whole community.

The Team Covenant guys are smart. If they can make money from the upgrades they don't need they will. (Most of them play and have collections). I know I have lots of upgrades that I'll never use. They are running a store, and are in it to play games and make money. Not necessarily in that order. Thought they are all avid players.
Cool - this may entice me to buy the rest of the TIE fighters needed to make a proper swarm.
5 dollars for gunner. Very much just buy the firespray.
Outside C3PO, or transport cards, i don't see why would you buy the cards independently, but to each their own.
Disclaimer:
Not posting this for tournaments,
only casual play. and no offence intended...
It may seem obvious, but if I want to use any cards I don't have I just print the ones online:
This is formatted for 8.5 x 11 inch printing.

Anyone spending money on only cards is not thinking properly. If you have a printer, you don't need to buy the cards. Print them.
If you play in an area where people are dogmatic about arbitrary rules and, for no justifiable reason or purpose, require each card to be FFG produced, then print the card, glue it to an Adrenaline Rush, and put it in a tiny card sleeve. Now no one knows.
Easy.
Edited by RaptureThey don't have the one card I'd probably pay $10+ for. C-3P0. I don't have an interest in epic play right now but really want him. Plus they're sold out of the other cards I want extras of: Outmaneuver, Predator, and Engine Upgrade. Still a welcome idea though. I'd rather pay$2 for predator than buy more defenders because I'll probably never want more than the one I own
Edited by barabelsftwIf they really wanted to make money they would sell the x wing pilots that come with the transport
