Hi guys. Here's my, admittedly poorly, painted Smugglers Alliance crew. The X-wing pic shows a regular on the left, and the poor primer-painted and rusty merc ship on the right. Thanks for taking a look, they were fun as hell to paint!

I really like how your x-wing turned out. How did you achieve that look?

Very simple actually. I use mostly Citadel paints, so here goes. A simple coat of Codex Gray followed by a slight drybrush of Boltgun metal. I then used a double wash of Ogryn Flesh brown and a very light drybrush of Tin Bitz on the engines. The blue is just Hawk turquoise and the R2 unit Boltgun and Blood red.

Thanks Winger5. My first painted X-wing mini was the back and gold Headhunter. I chose the scheme from Tycho Celchu/Corran Horn's Headhunter used in the assault on Imperial Center in the X-wing books.

I did really enjoy painting them though, and can't wait to get the YTs to paint up as well.

I wish you could do a little modding on the minis for offical tourneys; I'd like to show some battle damage on my TIEs. I will probably make a couple of Uglies (X-TIE and Death seed most likely) for some house rule games.

Just got the Firespray, and with the announcement at GenCon I will definitely be painting it up. I'm thinking of doing something with crimson, steel, and black that will look good in both the Smugglers Alliance and Imperial lists.

So, decided to paint the HWK. Just need to do a couple of blue washes to pick up the details, but I'm pretty happy with it.

Don't sell yourself short. Those Z-95s would do any smuggler fleet proud and your HWK looks sharp.

Nice work! Have you considered adding some more gold to the HWK, replacing some of the silver areas? That could look good on the four struts that sit in front of the engine intakes, balancing out the gold used on the hull.

Thanks! After years of trying, and generally doing a workman-like job, of 40k minis I've found that the X-wing minis are much more fun and relaxing.

That's a great idea morsla, I'll paint up the struts gold and then do my wash. I'll try to get that done and a pic posted tomorrow. I'm also working on a Firespray repaint, hopefully it will turn out decent.
