Is the Starfield no longer being looked at by FFG due to the amount of battlemats already out there?

Nobody knows but FFG.

Pretty sure they cancelled the tile system, lots of cheap battle mats out there they'd have a tough time making it profitable.

To be fair tiles are not a good play surface. It would be to easy to knock them.

I think they should focus on creating additions to the games that are not ships, things to enhance game play.

For example I think it would be awesome if they released a "Death Star Trench" with interesting rules that allow for new and unique scenarios. I mean if you look at what players are doing, one of the most common types of models (or play areas) being built are death Star Trenches. I really think there is a market for that.

I also think there is a market for mission books or mission creation tools which I think they really need to look into. Imagine a scenario book comes out called "A New Hope" which breaks down unique scenarios for the entire movie (and extended universe stuff for the movie). Maybe throw in some unique ships cards and upgrades.. perhaps even a model or two. I think people would eat that up.

I also believe there is a market for a prequel game. I think it might be too soon right now, but its getting close. All the major iconic Star Wars ships are already released (correct me if I'm wrong).

I also think its time for cards/upgrade cards to be released separately. Perhaps as part of scenario packages, perhaps like their print on demand stuff.

If the tiles were not interlocking it would be a bust.

As for Prequel stuff, watch for it as a complimentary system with it's own base set release, I doubt it's coming for GenCon.

Yeah, everyone's almost certain the tiles were canceled without a word being said. It wouldn't have been that usefule, really.

While it's true that it would be nice for FFG to confirm officially that this product was cancelled, if you think about it, it's unlikely that they want to make an announcement saying, "This product was a terrible idea, and terribly executed. We scrapped it because it was a bad bad idea."

Alright the insider has a leak ... So will will FFG if they release non interlocking tiles.
