Now that Leebo is spoiled :) Here is the new Rebel twofor list

By Zoccola, in X-Wing

Chewbaca + Draw their Fire + C3P0 + Jan Ors + MF

Leebo + Determination + Lando + Outridder + HLC

Super tank on both. The options you give your opponent is to break the Chewbaca + 3P0 + MF tank, or to shoot up the more agile Leebo who cycles through hits, choosing Pilot hits (hey 1 in 3 chance) and if they dont come up, Chewie eats them. Lando and Jan team up to provide good chances at Defence for the Outridder.

:) This will be an annoying list. :)

You don't get to look at the crit before Draw Their Fire has to activate, because it is pulled over after suffering a crit result not drawing a faceup damage card. So, you can't look at it with Leebo, decide to switch, get a Pilot one, and then swap to Chewie. Chewie has to decide to take it before it is ever flipped face-up.

Really? I didnt read it like that.

Draw their Fire says: When a friendly ship at Range 1 is hit by an attack, you may suffer 1 of the uncanceled Crit results instead of the target ship.

The rules for damage and crits read:

During this step, hit ships suffer damage based upon uncanceled hits and crit results. The hit ship suffers one damage for each uncanceled result, and then suffers one critical damage for each uncanceled result. For each damage or critical damage suffered, the ship must lose one shield token.

If it has no shield tokens, it must receive one Damage card instead (see “Suffering Damage” on page 16). When the number of Damage cards dealt to a ship equals or exceeds its hull value (yellow number), that ship is destroyed (see “Destroying Ships” on page 16).

After resolving the final step, the ship with the next highest pilot skill value takes its turn resolving the combat steps.
After each ship has had the opportunity to attack, the Combat phase ends and players proceed to the End phase.
Nowhere does it say that you must immediately choose to use Draw their Fire. Maybe I missed something, but I cannot find it in the rules.

Determination Leebo is going to make people rage so hard when it goes off.

Holy smokes, I think I just read Determination properly for the first time... when it triggers you discard the card completely, without taking a point of damage from it, right? I'd always skimmed over the text and assumed you just flipped the card over and ignore the Pilot crits while still taking the damage.

Determination is an awesome, and under-used, card in my opinion. I find it's a great card on things like TIE Bombers and Y-Wings now with R2-D6 (and eventually the Decimator) that have high hull points.

Chewwy can choose to suffer a crit instead. Suffering the crit is where you draw the card. Leebo never suffers the crit so his ability to look a t 2 cards doesn't get triggered.

From your description then there is a step between uncanceled crit and dealing damage.

In the rule book this is the progression of the combat phase.

1. Declare target

2. Roll attack dice

3. Modify attack dice

4. Roll defence dice

5. Modify defence dice

6. Compare results

7. Deal damage.

I already cut and paste the rules for Dealing Damage above. There is no sub-steps in step 7, hits = shield or face down, crits = shield or face up

Now I totally see what you are saying. DTF says uncanceled crits and Leebo says, whenever dealt face up damage you draw a second and choose, but RAW there is no difference that I can see.

Again, unless I am missing something. And I fully admit I might be wrong.

I don't think these will quite stack in that way.

Determination reads: "When you are dealt a face-up Damage card with the Pilot trait, discard it immediately without resolving its effect"

And Leebo reads: "When you are dealt a face-up Damage card card, draw 1 additional damage card, choose 1 to resolve, and discard the other"

The most literal read I'd have of that is...you are dealt a face-up Damage card. If it's NOT a 'pilot' card, you draw another card...whether that card is or isn't a pilot card is irrelevant, as you were not 'dealt' that card, instead you 'drew it' up...so you just use Leebo's ability to pick one to resolve (Determination only lets you discard the face-up Damage card you were dealt...IE., the first card)

That does mean that if you DO get a 'pilot' card as your first card, Determination immediately triggers and you instantly discard it. Unfortunately, because you have Leebo, you now have to draw a second card, and 'choose 1 to resolve' (but you'll only have the one option at this point - the card you just picked up).

Given that reading, Leebo + Determination is actually AWFUL, as he ends up actually taking crits even when he is dealt a 'pilot' card, while other captains would not...

Go to page 16 in the rulebook and read the "Suffering Damage" section. Each point of damage suffered goes through a two step process:

1. Reduce Shields

2. Damage Hull

With DTF, the target of the attack never flips the card because they never get to step 2 of he process. DTF redirects the suffering of the damage to the other ship, which means the new ship goes through that whole 2 step process.

This^^^

Suffering a critical damage and drawing a critical damage card are NOT the same in the rules. The Draw Their Fire ship sustains one uncancelled critical damage. Leebo has to sustain a critical damage to flip a damage card face up. With DtF, Leebo has NEVER sustained the critical damage, and thus cannot choose to activate his ability.

Also, that.

A two-large-ship build I can play while putting off buying a second YT-1300 for a while longer? Would probably find a different use for the Jan/DtF points, personally, but that does sound like a lot of fun.
