Anti-Super Falcon, Anti-Phantom Imperial Builds?

By gundamv, in X-Wing

Are there any anti-Super Falcon and anti-Phantom Imperial Builds that you know of?

I tried a PS 10 Boba Fett but that didnt' seem to work because of the Firespray's large base (making maneuverability difficult) and the Firespray's lack of firing arc on its two sides.

Also tried Soontir but finds that he dies too quickly.

Give Soontir a HU and SU. Vader with EU is also an option, Brath with VI...

I was looking into using a TIE Swarm (I have 7 TIE Fighters - 4 from Cores and 3 from Expansions). The lower PS of TIE Fighters make me question how useful they will be against the Phantom though.

Baron's Focus or Baron's Magic Space Bus variants with be right load outs.

Are people actually expected to know what these are? If you're going to suggest a squad, then list the squad as these squad names are really unhelpful.

Not as of yet, and I certainly hope one doesn't surface. The game will be infinitely healthier with several different squads each capable of beating one another, rather than one meta dominating list.

My last tournament I tried:

Soontir Fel+PTL/Shield (34 pts)

2x Shuttle+FCS/gunner/Engine (32 pts each)

-2 pts for ini bid

Worked overall pretty well. Ate Phantoms for breakfast. (and gently burping afterwards)

Did not face double YT but one Chewie was chewed up with amazing ease.

Soontirs Shuttle Show was however just a bit too weak vs a well-flown swarm.

Minor loss in a game where I lost both shuttles a tad fast and Soontir alone was nibbling and chipping away at the remnants of the swarm but time is an issue in a tournament. Losing draw.

So I am now looking at adding a 4th ship:

-Soontir Fel+PTL (30)

-Shuttle + Engine (25)

-Shuttle + Vader (24)

-Tie Fighter (12)

Ideally I'd

1) add a shield to SF (insurance policy for the most important ship in my squad)

2) upgrade the Tie to Backstabber (important 3rd red die)

3) upgrade the engine shuttle with FCS or AS plus useful crew.

4) Leave 1, preferably even 2, points for an initiative bid

Sadly I have only 7 (98) or 8 (99) points for all those goodies... Choices choices....

A tie swarm takes a different tactic, using the ships to block decloaking options.

And not flying in block formation.

Spread out so he has few places to go.

And point the guns in his general direction. (arguably tougher against Echo)

Vader crew is good for phantoms...if you can get a shot at them. So is blount with ion pulse.

HLC with some kind of reroll ability to go with a focus is great against both falcons and phantoms.

Wedge is great against both, if you can keep him alive long enough to get more than a shot or two.

Swarms are good for lots of attack dice, as well as the ability to block and deny actions.
