Stolen Collection

By Killerardvark, in X-Wing

How big is this collection?

Yeah, and what other figures are in this collection?

I keep my collection in my car, and a guy i work with told me i'm lucky he likes me because the tackle box in the back of my car is really nice.
I laughed and told him he would be disappointed that fishing supplies wouldn't be in it, but just a bunch of toys. (laughing to myself that the value of the items was more than the nice tackle box)

long story short, do you think the collection was taken...not for the collection but the case?

watch Ebay.....

Bookmark a Firespray search on eBay, just in case.

I guess it is time to put RFID chips with GPS in all of my ships. Sad. Very sad.

This is the most likely scenario. It was taken off his parent's property. That's why I felt comfortable posting on these forums. Hopefully the idiot thinks he can make a quick buck selling them. Like someone else said, you could just repaint that firespray and you'd never tell the difference.

Only other distinguishing features are a couple TIEs and Interceptors with magnets instead of standard pegs.

His collection is mostly imperial. 2 firespray, lots of TIEs, 2 interceptors, 1 imperial aces, 1 shuttle, 1 defender, 3 phantoms, 1 bomber?, on the rebel side he had 1 falcon and a random spattering of other ships. Maybe 1 of each pre-wave 4 ship.

Collection was stored in one of these

I, too, will keep an eye open at GenCon.

Do you know for certain they were stolen rather than lost?

Yes, he knows where it was placed and it was not there when he got back from lunch. He was unloading stuff out of his car at his parent's place (so not some random location) and just forgot to put it back in. Went to lunch and came back, gone. So it's not like his car or house was broken into to steal it. It was a series of unfortunate events and one terrible person.

With it being taken outside of a game environment, its unlikely that they visit these forums or even care about the minis at all. There is no secondary market for these things besides eBay and there's a slime chance of the ships showing up there. I am however glad to hear it was not lifted at a game store or event. I would hope the community would respect other peoples collections.

There should be a bounty placed on the culprit....

We want him alive. No Disintegration's

I've been scanning Craigslist hoping the idiot posts on their hoping to get a couple bucks out of it. This is somewhat the silver lining. It would really blow my mind if it was a fellow gamer who took it.

Any possibility it was an inside job? What else was around that could have also been taken; I find it hard to believe they would steal only the X-Wing stuff and leave other items lying around... Which tells us, that they knew the tackle box full of X-wing stuff was worth something.

Interesting thought, but unlikely. I think it was the only thing there. I can't even imagine the effort for someone to follow an x-wing player outside of their usual city they play in to take their collection that was left out by accident.

Let local Hobby shops and game stores in the area know what happened. I had a unique Flames of War Polish army stolen a few years back, it was devastating not because of the financial loss but the loss of time put in making the army. Two years later it turns up at a tourney and a player noticed it was a lot like my lost army that he somehow heard about through the grapevine... long story short. My army was reunited with me.

2 years later, quite impressive. Glad things worked out for you.
