This whole squad moves and shoots at PS 8, which means it either moves after and shoots before Echo, or Echo has Veteran Instincts. Echo with Vet Instincts is one without predator, so that a good thing! The Engine upgrades are there to allow the whole group to maneuver together, either very quickly, or to make last second course corrections, depending on the need. Again: great against named Phantoms.

But not _just_ against named phantoms. Luke + Predator is doing a soft TL on every offensive throw of the dice, and on Defense, he's got a built-in mini-focus. That makes him fairly action efficient. Academy Ties will be in a good deal of pain.

Wes is simply a beast. He makes it a lot easier to focus fire slippery targets. A Falcon with an evade token will be losing it _even if Wes rolls all blanks_. And 3PO only gets used once per round. So the next person to attack will have an easier time getting through.

Garvin, of course, is a focus master. 'Nuff said.

This list is flexible, hard hitting, consistent, and fires before just about everything else. It can probably turn a 5 ship list into a 4 ship list in the first round of fire- before that 5th ship gets a chance to fire at all.

The downside to the list is that it _is_ 3 ships. As such it will move after darned near everything, and is thus prone to being blocked by lists with more ships. It is fairly action-efficient, so blocking won't be devastating. Too, the list only has 15 hitpoints and 6 evade dice.

So: thoughts?

So many points to PS, but still going to shoot after an ACD Whisper. Seems a bit a waste to me.

An Echo withouth predator, is just your regular proven echo xD.

And anyways you will face more whispers (with VI of course), and the point you seem to be building your list, seems moot.

This list plays a like the wedge + luke + wes, with more mobility due to engines, but much lower firepower, PS, and late game staying power due to Luke not having R2D2. A biggs with Wedge + Luke with VI both with engine upgrades (and wedge with push the limit) will be much better dealing with those pesky phantoms imho.

Also, please, never ever count your list in agility dice. Seriously, you never will have 6 agility dice. All your ships have 2 agility, so you will have as many agility dice as times your opponent shoots at you x2.

I'm flying the PS8 X, Z, and E instead.

I can usually kill a ship at the first encounter to make being three ships not matter as much.

My crazy 8s list is yex Horton, Corr an and Luke.

Wes just doesn't seem as good as wedge to me. Wedge has a better ps and a more directly useful skill.

I can see how you could make Wes's skill useful, but wedge's skill is useful every time he shoots (until the decimator come out)

G'day all

Sorry to upset your apple cart bit Garvin

Dreis can't take an elite piloting skill,

so no veteran instincts on Garvin

That's what R2-D6 is for.

R2-D6 is an awesome little droid.

One of my favorite pairings is:

Wes Janson — X-Wing 29

Veteran Instincts 1

(Total Points: 30)

Wedge Antilles — X-Wing 29

Opportunist 4

(Total Points: 33)

Wes shoots at PS 10, and so clears the way for Wedge to get Opportunist. Wedge with 4/5 dice against an opponent with 1 fewer green die than they were expecting can be brutal. Especially given that they will not have any tokens to buff that defensive roll.

It's actually 50/50 that you'd catch even Echo with VI and ACD between cloaks. That would put Echo in the hilarious position of facing 4 (or 5!) attack dice with 1(!) defence die.
