Boba Fett and Navigator and the Stay on Target

By zhentil, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Okay, I get that Boba Fett when he has Navigator on him that he can basically move anywhere...correct? And if you have Stay on Target and Navigator you can do that same thing...right. I am just trying to get the order down as I am not the greatest at explaining these thing to new people playing the game.

Boba Fett with Navigator (often referred to as Fettigator) can perform any bank maneuver if he reveals a bank maneuver on his dial. He can either change the speed first with Navigator, then flip to the opposite bank with his own ability, or do the opposite, flip to the opposite bank first, then use Navigator to change the speed.

Stay on Target (SoT) gives access to other types of maneuvers (hard turn, straight, and even K-Turn). So, presumably, you can do something like:

1) Reveal 3-hard-turn right.

2) Use SoT to shift to 3-bank-left.

3) Use Navigator to shift to 1-bank-left.

Note that, sadly, Fett's ability isn't even necessary to do this. Any pilot with an EPT (Elite Pilot Talent) and Crew slot can. The only thing that remains to be seen is whether or not the resulting maneuver will be red or green. SoT would turn the 3-bank in step 2 into a red maneuver, but the 1-bank in step 3 is naturally green for the Firespray. According to the rules, things that make maneuvers more difficult (red) override those that make them easier (green). However, SoT says "that maneuver", which is under some debate until a FAQ whether that means whatever maneuver you end up performing, or specifically the maneuver you change to, which in this case is later being changed by Navigator.

If you end up, in this example, going from white to red to green, that will certainly be a cool combination. But again, unfortunately it doesn't appear do anything extra special for Boba Fett.
