Thank you!

For a long time my group of friends have been wanting me to run a P&P RPG. I've tried this a few different times but it has never ended well. Mostly because my players didn't want to put any effort into the game other than selecting their race, class, and playing the game.

In the end my players were having a lot of fun but I hated it.

Lately they've been wanting me to do it again but I wanted nothing to do with it. So I started looking for games that might scratch their itch while allowing me to put as little effort into it as they were. I looked at several different options but in the end I decided that Descent 2nd edition would probably be my best bet.

I just played the introductory quest today for the first time and I must admit I was blown away by it. The rules were easy enough that my players had very few problems understanding them. The explanation of how abilities and gear worked was short enough that most of them would learn what they did by themselves.

For the first time in years I didn't have to hold back in combat. I could actually try to kill players because it didn't matter if they "died." They could easily pop back up with the help of another player or on their next turn. I didn't have to waste a bunch of time helping them create a new character.

Setting up the game was quick and easy. Character creation, leveling up, and buying new gear offers a decent selection of choices with out overwhelming them.

This is a fantastic game and I will definitely be buying the expansions for it. Thank you for making a game that everyone in my group could play and have a lot of fun with.

Do yourself a favor and also download the latest FAQ to the game. It will most likely save you some grief, as it has specific rulings to ambiguous situations, as well as the fact that certain quests have been modified to provide more balance to the game.
