That's a lot of chotchkies.
Star Wars Armada
So my first - 32nd reactions mostly consist of "AWESOME."
Reaction #33:
The Objective Mechanism could be absolutely ported over to X-wing and would add a whole new dimension to list building. It could make less frequently used ships a part of builds with good overall benefits, allow for thematic squadron mates, and make the standard 100pt dogfight an actual mission -- especially if each side is allowed different objectives. Please do this FFG!
Reaction #34:
I actually am a little disappointed in the scaling. I'm not as strict as most and pretty forgiving. But the CR90 is WAY too big next to that Nebulon-B. I'd almost rather they made the CR90 the size of the fighters. I, and I suspect others, would have an easier time forgiving fighters being too big in relation to the smallest capital ship for practicality's sake than a fellow capital ship being too big in relation to the other capital class ships. That really is a bummer and feels sloppier than FFG has been.
Reaction #35:
Note that the card artwork is i the same vein and often the exact same images (Fleet Officer for example) as XWM. As an X-winger, I wonder if we've been given an incidental peak at future mini-cards we may see.
Reaction #36:
It would be cool if there was an alternate rulebook for including miniatures. They can't expect everybody to have them obviously so they should give fighters in Armada their own rules certainly. But it would be neat if there was an alternate set. Imagine Armada playing out on one 36" x 36" mat. When fighters attack one another, you shift over to a XWM mat and play out the battle there. Would take forever, but would be neat.
I'm drooling already!
The expansion packs will be interesting... will they include the fighter squadrons with the capital ships or have the fighter squadrons be by themselves?
If they are separate, it'll be 2 per faction? 1 Imperial capital ship expansion, 1 Imperial fighter squadron expansion, 1 new republic capital ship expansion, 1 new republic fighter squadron expansion.
They could do an expansion that just has environmental things like 3D asteroids that easily attach to the core asteroid bases, an actual space platform to replace the token already shown in the core, and, heck, a planetary side piece that gives something for those nasty ISD's to bombard and the Rebels to protect. Oooh, or a blockade for the Imps to hold while a Rebel VIP tries to escape under cover of a small Rebel fleet...
One thing for sure, I think my budget for other games (primarily card games and computer games) will be shifted to Armada. Ho Ho Ho.
Personally I don't think it obvious they will do an SSD granted with a sliding scale it could be done.. but seripusly, a ISD is gonna be 2-3 times the Victory class.. an SSD would be maybe 3 feet long.. on that slideing scale...I realize keeping everything to scale would be hard, but they could have tried a bit more.
The victory should be 3 times as long as the nebulon, but only looks 1.5 at best.
The corvette should be half the size of the nebulon, but look almost equal in size.
Presume FFG will release a Super Star Destroyer mini - because, obviously they will.
If they made that the size of the current largest-'mini'-they've-released (the "X-Wing Miniatures" Tantive-IV), then the Victory Star Destroyer, in scale with it, would be the size of an XWM A-Wing.
So I think we can see a good argument for the sliding scale...
We'll see what happens, I for one won't be holding my breath for a SSD
Well, that's the whole point of a "sliding" scale.
The 'canon' size of an ISD is about twice the length of a VSD...

...but since the scale slides, FFG doesn't have to do anything but just make it 'noticeably bigger', and they are golden.
Just make it 25% bigger, and *bam*, done!
Thanks for the scale reminder.. I did say I think a ISD will be coming soon.. but even the possibility of a SSD on this sliding scale.. but it will take away something of its intimidation .. I think.. wouldnit be cool.. sure.. but it should be very large.. but that makes it a high price point..
We'll see what happens
I am amused this always comes up though.. 'Let's get the biggest dad gum ship in the universe and make it fit on the head of a pin!' Just amusing..
I am somewhat miffed by this...Nott impressed to say the least...This will definitely please the drooling star deystroyer fans...I am old school and like keeping to scale when gaming...Epic is ok as long as they keep the Big ships in scale with each other...
Awwwww. Look at that. Since it is a miniatures game, we can keep track of (read: be tempted by) BOTH the X-wing and Armada game sets at the same time on the 'Upcoming' page. How considerate of you, FFG.

Neb is rebel.Could this be the end to the hope for an Imp epic Neb?
Who are they licensing the movement system from?
They licensed the X-wing system TO neca/wizkids/ w/e that atrocious company is now. Obviously FFG is the creative one.

I think he was referring to the caption of the move snake picture that says "pending licensor approval".
Which, yeah, means Lucasfilm for the art or concept or something.

By all the gods of old I sure hope so.. a Neb is not needed nor will it be playable in the right scale...
I really thing this game is going to rock. Nothing like x-wing, but a perfect united game.
My wallet cannot repel awesomeness of this magnitude!
I am SO ON BOARD. OH MY GOD YES.
Good lord I could not be more ecstatic- and glad I was wrong, either! I DID say that this would happen but boy was I wrong about the units!
Well maybe. I bet the first wave will have the Acclamator.
Either way. OH MY GOD YES YES YES YES YES. I will play the ever loving CRAP out of this. A LITTLE bummed about the scale, but eh. It isn't worse than Attack Wing that way (Which by the way, is an awful name for a fleet battle game.)
Seriously. This is awesome. Can't wait to have capital ship models adorning my desk.
AND I AM
SO
PAINTING THE LITTLE SHIPS.
I hope this is a completely separate game and not an attempt to rescale X-Wing.
I used to play Axis and Allies Miniatures (the land version), where they rescaled the game to make the scale "more even." The rescaling was a flop and the game died soon afterwards. Kinda concerned the same is happening here.

It's a different game. If you need proof, there's a separate forum for it.
The capital ships are painted but I don't want to have to paint the squadrons.
It would take maybe 5 minutes to paint one of those squads for table top quality.
Yeah, look at their size compared to the dice, though: they're going to be like the size of your little fingernail. It wouldn't be that practical for them to be prepainted, and even I could manage the minimal level of detail you'd want/need for something that tiny.
Axis and Allies War at Sea flight teams are that size and they are painted. They also cost a lot less (around $2-$5 per flight team, depending on the model).
Considering it isn't using the Flightpath system, its safe to say it is its own thing.
A bendy-clicky flightpath system for XWMG WOULD be cool though.
Also, this is a classic example of cannibalism (finance kind, not Luis Suarez). The question is whether this will cannibalize sales off X-Wing or whether X-Wing will cannibalize sales off this. I say the latter, because X-Wings are a lot more affordable.
Just one look at the rules tells me that this isn't the easy-to-get-into game XWMG is. Expect much slower wave releases.

And that it is already well established
