X-wing gamestand

By WargameHub, in X-Wing

Our local gamestore has 3x3 tables so X-wing can be difficult at times with the cards/tokens/etc on other tables or chairs.

We have been discussing making 4x3 table toppers that we can drop onto what's there (either single piece or folding).

However I had an idea of using a separate stand and got a heavy laptop/projector stand which had it's first use last night. It fits everything, has a lip around the whole thing and can be used for non-gaming too. I have some back issues from injuries so I can set it around 39" high which helps a lot. The legs are fully adjustable and I would put them further out than the picture shows to make it more stable and can't be bumped over easy.

Looks nice. My tables are all 4 foot on one side so I have room but that's still a nice set up.

How much did it cost?

That's pretty cool. A not so wise man once said; " I like it alot "

The heavy duty ones like that retail around 50. I was looking at other options like using sheet music stands but I'm not a musician and this one can be used for my laptop. There are significantly lighter ones that have bags and collapse more which cost less too.

Very cool!

Yup, I got to be the coolest geek in the gaming store playing a sci-fi game....... wait a minute <_<

Very nice. Do you have a make and model number for it?

Stellar Labs

Heavy Duty Music Stand - Large Projector and Laptop Stand

Item Model Number: 555-11695

If you search for "Stellar Labs 555-11695" in Google it comes right up. The Amazon link I got it from is out of stock but other sites have it at $35+shipping (about what I got it for).

I am, and a decent stand will cost you about the same. But wouldn't work as well. They have a ledge on one side, but not the other 3. Plus the surface area would be smaller I think. Mine can fit 2 8x11 sheets side by side with a little room left side to side. That means they're 12x20 inches or so.

I think over all a 3x4 table topper would be cheaper, but this is a nice portable system that you could take most anywhere.

I think we had the one piece table toppers using just plywood and edging at about $10 a piece but they are a lot bigger. Easy to knock over if someone leans on it so it needs some sort of attachment system.

For a music stand you would want something like this. I have washers glued to my bases and may pick one of these up anyway as this would stick to my stand.
