The Great Debate #47: Trish vs. Silas vs. Zoey

I say Zoey all the way. C'mmon, her ability is so badass. If she gets a weapon as one of these uniques she's the best monster slayer in Arkham. And even if she doesn't, someone should really give up his weapon and hive it to Zoey. Cross let's you set your Fight/Will to 2/3 which is nice. You can set your Lore/Luck to 3/3 so you could pass many checks. Also, Knife may be bad, be it can go pretty well with a one handed weapon she gets as one of her uniques. Also, 4 clue tokens is amazing. One stop and she can seal a gate. My second favorite is Silas. He can travel with ease (and free) from Arkham to Kingsport to Innsmouth. Amazing. +2 to all checks in aquatics is also really really good. Finally, 6 fight, 4 will, and 2 focus? Hellz yeah! Trish I don't like. Sue me. What do you think?

I think Zoey is really hampered by the fact she only has three sanity, which means she has to make pretty much every horror check, or all her great combat ability goes to waste. So if she fights the monsters she's good at fighting (those with immunities mostly have hard horror checks), she'll pretty much always have to stay at fight 1 to have a good chance to see the fight - good thing she has that cross at least. I agree she's great, but sanity three is a big liability.

I also like the sailor, great idea to give those aquatic locations more use and very thematic. Love it.

The character I'm really intrigued with is the spy. Different mechanics are always nice, especially on a "late/last" expansion of a game. What she definitely needs is a motorbike - if she has to spend her "focus" to raise her speed (which only goes up to mediocre anyway) she sucks in all other areas. As a hot chick on a motorbike, I think she'll be very fun to play.

I'm throwing my support behind Trish. I'm a sucker for things that play differently, and I think she'll do well. She's not very mobile, true. But I'm certainly interested enough.

Trish excites me. She's so beyond what I thought was mutable in this game. Anyone who loves micromanaging their sliders will have a field day with Trish...or Trish could make them so sick of sliders, they'll break the habit. She'll greatly benefit from some +1 Skills, and, as Crimson said, anything to boost her Movement Points. I wonder how we can legitimately describe her Stat "balances", since they all increase left-to-right. Obviously her Fighting style gets more deadly as she gets less visible; she's old-timey assassin-spy. The more she knows, the more she steels herself against that knowledge. And...the faster she runs...the better she is at avoiding trouble? That sounds like a precursor to Parkour.

Silas all depends on the Innsmouth Look mechanic; he might be the Investigator voted "Most Likely To Be Devoured". But he could also be the guy to get to Kingsport in a blip to take care of any Rifts that need attention.

Zoey is finally the Investigator that plays with Monster Resistance/Immunity OFFICIALLY, because customizers have been fiddling with that stuff forever. I rather like her average stats (like Amanda and Leo, almost), and I look forward to comparing her to Mike, Mark, and Tony.
