A Sandstorm Hits Kingsport

By allstar64, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

So we had an Arkham seccion today that was most interesting. We played 2 games with Kingsport and CotDP. In the first one we had Rex (me), Tony, Lola, Charlie, and Dexter against the big C himself. This game ended relatively quickly.

The second mythos card sent me (first player) to the strange high house on the hill where I stayed for a while. Fortunatly someone got a clue tokens are tradeable encouter so I could give all them away w/out being in the same spot. Things went to hell shortly when a mythos caused a rit to open. I tried to make it back but ultimatly slipped fell and found myself in the hospital. Short story shoter we managed to close the rift before it moved but a lot of gates were opening. In an attempt to taunt us the turn before 3 people enterd gates there was a mythos card that said all people in OW could retuurn to Arkham. Ultimatly we lost cause too many gates opened while we were there and we were getting "delayed" and LiT encounters constantly.

The next game with the same expansions had Darrel, Daisy, Wendy, Luke and Lily (Me) vs mr undead Galleki. Investigators were chosen by giveing everyone 2 cept me who they picked on at random for in both games. All Arkhamm Dunwich and Kingsport characters were in. Somehow we Had FOUR kingsport characters in both games yet no identical ones. Dunno how that happened. Basically this game started predictibly. Daisy got some spells picking shriveling as her spell. She started with find gate. Luke got 5 clue tokens and cursed while in OW. I killed somethings as Wendy and and Darrel moved around.

Now things got really troubling Around turn 4 we got the rumor that needs monster trophies to pass. We had virtually none and monsters do not come out fast enough to keep up with the clues added to the card. The fail condition is all clue tokens on board and possestion are lost. Wendy and Luke quickly used theirs to seal gates but we weren't really sure what to do while waiting for the rumor to blow up which is when the Dark Pharoh took pity on us.

He sent a sandstorm our way riddled with treasure which stayed for more than 10 rounds. Seeing how collecting clue tokens was pointless we decided to more or less camp in the streets to try and make a luck -1 rolls for an exibit items during the encounter phase. There were virtually no monsters around being that we had some good fighters and as monsters did appear in the streets we had no problem killing them and getting an encounter there. As the martial artist I ended up in a position where I was healing 3 stats a turn and could sac stamina or sanity for +1s to all my checks that turn up to 5 times (Healing stone, terrible old man and an exibit item. forget which one). we ended up abusing the sandstorm so badly that there was only 1 exibit item in the deck that none of us had at any point in the game (a pentagram of blood). We ultimatly drew 21/22 of the exibit items. We got all the masks which luke wore mostly to get Mandy into the game. We also got all 3 parchements of the Elder sign. Really lucky since there were no clue tokens on the board.

On the final turn we had Wendy give a parchment to Luke sitting on a gate. She had to fight a Dark Young. Not only did Luke give a 14 year old girl a magical rifle but Darrel passed off 2 bells to her (Chimes of Ra). She ended up rolling 20 dice against the Dark Young Just because.

Daisy using a spectral mirror, a cthonian and 2 spirit jars to bless Luke. Luke then channeled Mr Diamond and sacrificed some stats to get 1 plus to his skill per each stam or san saced. He ended up with 14 blessed dice with a Mandy Thompson reroll and a parchment of the elder sign to seal the final gate.

We were all really weirded out by the game. we found it very ammussig that we had 3 unique and 4 common iems at the end of the game yet we had 15 Exbit items. We know this because we got another rumore that said sacrifice unique and common items to pass this which was when we realized that we had almost none because of our reliace on the exibit items. Overal a very ammusing and fun experiance
