Any math-wingers out there have a feel for which is the more survivable ship?
Tarn+R7 vs. Dagger Squadron
One on one take Tarn most of the time. In any other scenario take the dagger. In fact I'll say dagger probably wins heads up a decent percent of the time. Shooting first is big. If the dagger is using focus for their action they still get a 75% chance to hit or crit on the rerolls.
Tarn with R7 one on one is an absolute monster. Plus the dial is miles better than a b wing's. I love me some daggers, but for this one, I'll take Tarn.
It really depends on the ships shooting and the action economy.
Let's consider a basic scenario, attacker has focus and defender doesn't at range 2:
On the first attack (4 attack dices, 3 dices, 2 dices)
Dagger takes (2.62,1.88,1.14) damage on average
Tarn takes (1.55,1.05,0.59)damage on average
on subsequent attacks in the same turn:
Dagger takes (2.62,1.88,1.14) damage on average
Tarn takes (2.26,1.53,0.84)damage on average
If we consider 3 dices attacks, tarn is destroyed on average in 3.58 attacks, while the B is destroyed in 4.26 attacks.
If we consider 2 dices attacks, tarn is destroyed on average in 5.25 attacks, while the B is destroyed in 7.02 attacks.
In this scenario, if you expect more than 3 attacks per turn, the B is more resilient.
If the defender has a focus, the numbers change in favor of Tarn but not by a lot.
Given those numbers I'd say that a Dagger and Tarn are about as resilient, Tarn is more vulnerable in the early game if he can be focus fired, but more resilient in the end game.
One interesting point : gunner/luke skywalker work well against Tarn +R7(especially if you also have a target lock) even in the end game and are really numerous in the current meta. They are pretty useless against a Dagger though.
Han (pilot) also negates Tarn+R7.
In a one on one situation I'd say Tarn as his maneuvering is better suited to setting up unstressed attack runs allowing him to make better use of his actions whereas the B-Wing would be stressed to keep up with him.
Han can't reroll Tarn+R7's mandatory rerolls on his attack. Gunner is the only thing in the game right now that lets you "reroll" dice against TarnR7, because it's a new attack that Tarn can't use R7 on anymore (as the droid is once per round)
@Eruletho : You can't reroll rerolled dices. Guess what happens when you reroll all hits from R7 and all misses from Han? Exactly the same as if you only roll once, hence Han negates Tarn+R7.

Defender modifies attack dice first. Han could only re-roll anything that R7 didn't force.
@Futant : exactly my point.
See the following scenario:
Han rolls. Tarn should force the reroll of all hits (and eyes if Han as focus). Whatever dices are rerolled because of Tarn, Han rerolls the others. This means all dices are rerolled. Functionnaly this is exactly the same as if no dices are rerolled.
Maybe should have said that they negate each other.
Han shooting at Tarn+R7 is like a vanilla 3 attack ship shooting at a vanilla 2 defense ship.

That said, Tarn is a beast. Easily my favorite X-wing. Nobody wants to hit him.
