Redemption Scenario

By icewolf200, in X-Wing

Most Star Wars fans I'm sure know what the Redemption run is. So I'm curious has anyone setup this as a scenario since the Corvette came out. I know the Frigate is needed but I had the thought of this as a possible scenario

Rebels have initiative

Corvette sits in the middle of the map with a 100 point Rebel Squadron.

Roll an attack dice with one of the 4 sides of the map as Blank, Focus, Hit, Crit, this is the side the Imperial ships will come in for that round.

Imperial ships coming in are 2 TIE Fighters and 2 TIE Bombers.

Play goes until Round 3

Roll an attack dice again and reinforcements pop in on that sie, 2 more Fighters and 2 more Bombers.

Play continues until Round 6

Roll the die and see which side the last reinforcements come in, 2 more Fighters and 2 more Bombers

Corvette can now move to get off the map if it can move

Victory for Imperial - Destroy the Corvette before it can escape

Victory for Rebels - Corvette escapes.

So, how does this sound? Thinking of running it but if any modifications can be done I'm open to suggestions.

It sounds like a good start but there are some questions:

-What are the bombers loaded with?

-What PS are the Ties and Bombers? Can they be upgraded?

-If the Corvette is in the middle of the of a 3' x 6' where does the ship exit? It should make it off map easily if the imperials start on a short side, behind the corvette.

-What is the load out of the Corvette?

I think if you address these issue you have the makings of an interesting scenario.

Bombers I believe only have concussion missiles (maybe give them a munitions failsafe) and I would say make the Imperial PS be the lowest available (Academies and Scimitars) because just 6 bombers alone = the Rebel Squad and that is not counting the missiles and 6 academies which when added probably would be over 200 total points.

I think the Corvette shouldn't be able to shoot until it can start moving and that the only action it should have is reinforce (because everyone is on damage control)

Sounds cool

I think it could shoot in the original scenario. Maybe only the primary gun as it won't generate energy until it moves anyway?

Primary only should work but I would still probably limit it to no other upgrades and probably only the reinforce action

My thought was just the low PS Bombers and Fighters and I know the Fighters and Bombers total could be pretty high in points but a basic Corvette with 100 point Squad is equal.

Corvette would fire only primary to protect itself and I was thinking just a 3x3 map and just getting off the map was the objective. 3x3 leaves it so Empire doesn't come in on short side, but it would be accurate to the scenario since the Stardestroyer dropping them off either gets further away or closer depending on the actions of the Rebels.

I was thinking either Torpedoes or Missile loadout on the bombers, mabye a combination with one flight coming in with missiles and the next flight coming in with torps.

Corvette loadout is just basic to simulate they are trying to focus on getting as many off the Redemption as possible.

Nope. Never heard of it.

Basically the Redemption scenario is the Redemption Medical Frigate is taking wounded from a battle. The Corvette Korolev and three shuttles are there offloading as many wounded as possible with starfighters standing guard. The Stardestroyer Warspite jumps in from hyperspace and drops off TIES and TIE Bombers then jumps back into hyperspace. The Warspite then jumps back in on the opposite side hoping to take the Rebels by surprise dropping off more Fighters and Bombers. It is used as a training mission for Rebel pilots. It is in the X-Wing game and was featured in the Rogue Squadron book at the beginning.
