Rexler + Interceptor + ... DOOMShuttle?!

I know I'm supposed to be trying out Rebel lists, but the call of Imperials keep dragging me back. :)

Anyway, was reading threads on good Rexler builds and they generally are around:

Rexler + TIEs

Rexler + Named BH (for a 2 ship build)

Rexler + TIE + Interceptors

Rexler + Echo (that would be a fun and super fragile list to play)

Since I've had some success with the shuttle, and I suck at flying TIE swarms, what about:

Rexler + HLC + Predator + Engine (51)

RGP + PTL (25)

OGP + Vader (24)

100 pts

You get the benefit of Rexler+HLC+Predator, and now he's a bit more maneuverable to maybe keep him alive a little longer.

RGP + PTL is classic flanker.

OGP + Vader is someone you can't really ignore, but you also don't want to waste fire on him (at least from the 10+ games I've had with the doomshuttle).

This gives good damage output (10) with good HP (19), some good maneuverability (RGP and Rexler) with distractions (doomshuttle).

I would keep Rexler near the Doom Shuttle and see where the opponent flies, while RGP flies off himself. Then Rexler does his thing keeping at R3 while Doomshuttle disrupts with the "0" move and vader.

Thoughts? Would love advice that tweaks upon this list since I understand the benefits of the other Rexler builds listed above.

With Rexlar with Predator, I really like taking a focus on him as it means you're regularly hitting 3-4 times, so I don't see a ton of use for the expensive engine, especially as you have BR.

I like the Royal, but if you can forego the engine, that allows you the option of a higher PS pilot who is either more mobile (Turr) or provides more utility (Jax). Fel would be ideal, but you're only getting him if you drop Brath for Vess, but at least the shuttle has TL.

Nice, how did it go? Strengths and combos I should try? Weaknesses against certain lists and how you compensate?

Having the engine gives you the good angled K-turn that you often can't get, but i see your point.

I think dropping Rexler to Vessery is doable, but you do lose the pilot skill even if you gain TL.

I could also potential drop the Engine and give a Hull/Shield upgrade to either the RGP or Rexler just for more durability.

I flew Rexler with Vessery tonight and won. I was going up against Chewy, Biggs, and 2 bandits. Both ships had HLC and EU. Ves had predator and Rex had PTL. Other then one roll my evade dice were garbage as always. Good thing I didn't give my opponent to many chances to shoot me.

Vessery was the first to die. And I think its because he didn't have PTL. Now I'm basing this off just one game. PTL seem to give me a lot more options with Rex. In the past I've tried to base pilots with HLC and Jonus the bomber for his rerolls. And the major problem was the ships were just to predictable. I would get one good round of shots off then get torn to peaces. Vessery was doing good but due to limited movement options he didn't make it out of Chewy's range 3. I evaded one shot but he had gunner. Then rolled 4 blanks and died.

Now Rex with PTL I felt it worked out fairly well. You really have to plan tho. All greens are a forward move. That's a good and bad. It does make you a little predictable. But when you fly 5 forward and then boost good chance nothing can shoot at you. With push I would TL and then Focus. Vessery never got to benefit from it that game. But I did land 3 hits one round with out spending a focus against Chewy. Very gratifying to give the fuzzball some crits. But they were nothing good. I'm now thinking of doing both defenders with PTL.
