So I'm writing a special campaign for my brother, who is a huge Firefly fan and Star Wars fan, it's his last RPG before committing marriage.... hahaha
I'm looking for some animals, Cattle and Horses mainly, for the ranches and the like.
I'm also thinking of using that guy from the Clone Wars that was a gunslinger but I'm drawing a blank on where I saw stats for him.
I'm also wondering what system I should be in....Any suggestions?
Now my campaigns tend to be dark so I think I'll add in some Xenos slavery.... I don't want to use Wookies, I think that's been over done. What are so really innocent beings that I could enslave and have them either sell or set free. Suggestions?
Normally I would not have a prob recalling all this stuff but with a 4 month old baby at home my brain is functioning a bit slow
Thanks in advance
Firefly meets EofE - Need some advice
Mon Calamari are a good slave species for the Rebellion era, as for pack animals, bathas are a bit large, but Nerf and Shaak can work really well. As for mounts, The tauntaun, dewback, eopie, ronto, and kaduu all potentially work, depending on the environment.
In Suns of Fortune, I wrote a section about Baron Benton Kaldo's estate in Hollowtown (a region of Centerpoint Station) that might help you here. I believe there is more on some estates in the Corellia entry as well. Corellia is basically space texas, so it works well to get that wild west feel that firefly has.
Happy gaming!
Cad Bane?
Here are a bunch of creatures from SWG, there were a fair number of cow-like herd animals as mid-level beasties:

Congrats on the baby, mine is 4 months too!
Slave species: how about the Stereb ?
You might consider watching the TCW episode Bounty Hunters (Season 2, E17), which has some local Felucians and their crops being terrorized by pirates. It's also an ode to Seven Samurai... I think the farmers use eopiees or something, or maybe that's in the Deserter episode.
In a compilation of posts for my blog, I suggested the following stats for nerfs:
Nerfs
Nerfs are large, quadripedal herbivores that can be found throughout the galaxy. They are generally docile, but can become violent when trying to escape from a threat. For more information about them, check out < http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Nerf >.
Nerf (Minion)
Brawn 4 Cunning 2 Presence 1
Agility 2 Intellect 1 Willpower 1
Soak: 5
Wound Threshold: 14
Strain Threshold: 11
M/R Defense: 0 / 0
Skills (group only): Brawl, Survival, Vigilance
Talents: None
Abilities: Stampede—Rather than standing and fighting individual opponents, frightened nerfs instead charges together as a group, making a single brawl attack as they overrun anyone in their path. This attack has a base damage of six.
Equipment: Hoofs and horns (see above for details)
Also, I included posts with a nerf ranch and a group of nerf rustlers:

Make sure to create a Nerf-bat weapon that the ranchers use...
When it comes to brutish dopey animals, It's nerf or nothing.
Thanks everyone for the help.
Everyone should make sure to check out Nate's site, great stuff. http://talesfromthee...nerf-ranch.html
I never knew Corellia was the like Texas, I'm going to pick up the Sons of Fortune today and use that as the setting for this Wild West campaign
Thanks everything y'all!
It's more like Texas from a cultural standpoint, but with that being said, SoF is a fantastic sourcebook full of great fluff. There should be plenty of inspiration for you to draw from.
kaosoe is right, it's referred to by the developers as "Space Texas" but kind of in the way that real-world, 21st century Texas is today in relation to the rest of the United States.
It's a fantastic reference and worth buying regardless, but if you're looking more for the frontier "old west" kind of look at feel, then creating your own world further away from the Core Worlds may be a better option. However, Suns of Fortune shows how even Core Worlds can have an "Edge of the Empire" feel.
Meh. I would disagree to a point. Yes, the space-texas idea is in reference largely to the attitude of Corellians. However, the Corellia entry details the Murra, an herbivore raised on ranches just like cattle, and the "other geographic regions" paragraph about the plains explains that most of corellia is unspoiled plains where ranchers roam with their herds. Hollowtown of Centerpoint is also noted as being filled with ranches and vineyards and touristy areas.
Of course, the best book for this sort of setting is probably Far Horizons, which discusses running Colonist campaigns, which is what this sounds like. The OP might have more luck with that book, as far as being content filled for his purposes. It releases in a week.
