Which list

By DreadStar, in X-Wing

Well, i have been playing lately a lot of lists that involve no phantom neither falcon. I like playing the phantom, but find it unreliable with the current lists people are playing (too many Fat Hans, and a VI Fat Han can ruin your day). I am comfortable playing 3 ship rebel lists against phantoms or Fat Hans tho, but they seem a bit lackluster against swarms.

So i am coming up with a few lists that i would like you guys to criticize:

Rebel (Z's are the new Rookies)

Wedge Antilles (29)
Predator (3)
R3-A2 (2)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Biggs Darklighter (25)
R4-D6 (1)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Total: 100
Wedge shoots after whisper, before than Echo tho. Even tho you won't stop him from Cloaking, you make him way more predictable next turn, and whisper is in my experience predictable enough if he has to take greens, or it will just remove him from combat.
I could use play a bit the list and go for iniative bid (or directly put wedge on PS11). Dunno, i will have to try it out, i am not convinced about the R3A2 if i don't shoot before whispers, and as a phantom player, i would never get any close to Wedge's arc if i am moving after it.
I like Biggs a lot with R4-D6, specially against phantoms, since it gives you more and more turns.
Empire (Soontir Trelix of Doom)
Krassis Trelix (36)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Rebel Captive (3)
Soontir Fel (27)
Push the Limit (3)
Omicron Group Pilot (21)
Darth Vader (3)
Pretty self explanatory i think. Soontir Fel is a beast and the flanker. He also has PS9, being able to move after the phantoms. Krassix with rebel captive stops from phantoms focusing down him early, and being a good closer in lategame, like Soontir, but better against falcons. And Doomshuttle to finish off some ships in the first turns if able to.

I would use Soontir Trelix of Doom. Although i am Soontirs biggest fanboy, so don't trust my opinion.

I like the second list better but I'm not a huge fan of a suicide ship in a squad with only 3 ships.

The OGP is always better with upgrades, buzzsaw is deadly. Maybe a bounty hunter instead, gives front and rear arc attacks..

I am not sure about R3-A2 on Wedge. I don't know if you want to purposely stress him. I would just try and run him with VI and EU. Then maybe you can bump your Bandits to Talas, or give one a missile.

I've run something similiar. Doom shuttle + BH + upgraded Turr. As long as the Doom shuttle can cause enough damage and allow your other to ships to get in a couple shots, you should be ok. I look at the Doom Shuttle as almost a super Biggs. Your opponent usually has to attack him first because you can't just let Vader sit there and Crit you 5 times. I'm not a huge fan of the HLC on the FS, I just find that it forces you to K-turn more to employ the cannon. The bueaty of the FS is you should rarely ever have to k-turn so you can always perform an action. The second list should be pretty good.

Yeah, HLC is mostly because of Falcons, i already have another option, but i just want to try out the Krassix HLC before because it is better against falcons imho. Thanks for the advices guys. Yeah ,i am not convinced in the Wedge one, i think i can perfectly run a more standard and still have decent chances against phantoms if i fly well, so the R3A2 would be unneeded (and would hinder my ability to deal with other lists), but i still will fly it to confirm it.

Kath Scarlet (38)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Rebel Captive (3)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Soontir Fel (27)
Push the Limit (3)
Omicron Group Pilot (21)
Darth Vader (3)
Total: 100

go with the first lsit u have 5 ships dat makes it harder for ure opponent to blast em all away at once a 3 ship build is pretty rough cause after losing 1 ship u lost 1 third of ure fire power and such

Rebel (Z's are the new Rookies)

Wedge Antilles (29)

Predator (3)

R3-A2 (2)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Biggs Darklighter (25)

R4-D6 (1)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

Total: 100

I like this.

But if you're interested in hearing some possible tweaks, I agree with Jo Jo about R3-A2 on Wedge, and every time I see an Engine Upgrade on an X-wing or Y-wing these days I think of R7-T1. So I'd do something like this instead. You drop your vulnerability to opposing Predators, keep Wedge's ability to boost, and you've still got 3 points to equip an EPT on Wedge (Veteran Instincts? Swarm Tactics? Stay On Target? Expert Handling?)

Wedge Antilles (29)

R7-T1 (3)

Biggs Darklighter (25)

R4-D6 (1)

Tala Squadron Pilot (13)

Tala Squadron Pilot (13)

Tala Squadron Pilot (13)

Total: 97

Veteran Instincts if playing with that droid in my opinion. Yeah i agree, i like the change, gives me the mobility plus the target lock. Swarm tactics is not that exciting with Z's. Stay on target may be useful if i had advanced sensors, i think it would be overcommitting to the phantom's hunt imho.

Thank you.

I would lean more toward the rebel list personally. neither list is terrible though.

I like do prefer Vorpal Sword's suggestion though.
