Looking for GM and Players preferably in the GMT zone.

By Naszerinted, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Should we get together and make the characters today afternoon? 14:00 GMT 16:00 GMT?

I would be able to at 16:00 GMT, but i don't know if the others could read this in time.

Will not be able to make it this afternoon, the wife as the full day planned out :P however, if the rest of you can make it today, you can already start making stuff together, it not like the rules are not in the book or something. Like i said, i'm ok with all the races and classes that are in any of the current books.

If that is not an option for everyone, Monday and tuesday evening should not be a problem for me, so anything already made should just make it faster.

Both this afternoon or monday is ok, i just need to know the time. How are we meeting? A group on hangouts, a teamspeak session or what?

I had never used hangouts, but teamspeak, but i don't mind, i don't think it would be hard to use, right ?

I have a free afternoon, so i don't mind the time, you guys decide.

I'd go with the TS. We have a server where we hang out and we can make channels so i don't see any problems. I'll PM around the IP.

Not that i will be joining you today, but TS was my favour to.

I think making a facebookgroup is also a good thing, because that is easier for planning dates then here.

Ok thanks. what time? Im busy today from 14.00 to 15.00 i think

Whenever you like there only friends here it's private, but I wouldn't start talking to random people since its mainly a hungarian channel. I'll make a subchannel with edge as pass. Poke us if you there. We can discuss things.

If you PM your facebook pages, I create a facebook group too. My friends are not a big fan of face, but i think they can put that aside, for the rest of the group. :)

not a big fan of facebook myslef. first i'll try the ts server. do you have the same nick there as on this forum?

Got in the TS forum but i can't poke anyone apprently. i'll wait until the Edge channel is made i guess

Edited by Lareg

I moved there so anyone comes We'll be here

It's the sub-channel of the elenfe'l channel. Open it, so you can see it.

If you need us in the future, the room is here, and we are here all the time.

One more thing that we have to choose, is the starting level. In the F&D beta there's the option to start at knight level which means you get 150 xp after character creation and a lightsaber or 10k credits to buy gear.I don't see why that can't be extended to the other 2 books.

What do we want to do? Start with the weak and broke starting character or start a bit more advanced and better equipped?

if we assume that our characters aren't at their first day of the job the second option makes more sense, and balance is kept cause we'll face more powerful enemies and higher challenges, but if you want the normal starting characters we can roll with those, it will just be more difficult/frustrating to play the first adventures.

You find out pretty quickly if you have your gear done you can't really do much to spend your money and feel the progression. On top of that 150 extra XP is a lot. If you want to do it i would say it comes with 50 or so obligation since you are one of the last living fully fledged jedi knight. I think it's not fitting for the timescale of our adventure. If it were after BoE I'd say it's fine but I wouldn't recommend playing like this in your first game. It's for those who played the first 2 books and would really like to jump into the slice and dice.

By the way I'd like to play a character who JUST ran away from home. But its up to the GM.

I was thinking while I was looking through the ship stats and something I really don't know. What will be the theme of our adventure? Will it be a strict story or will it be a sandbox adventure with main story quests?

Right since i keep reading, 'that's up to the Gm' , I'd better start speaking up then.

I prefer to start at the "normal" starting level. unlike level 1 d&d characters, they are not weak. I've seen what my player group have been able to do with starting characters, so be creative and you will be fine.( I tend to reward thinking like that) . Remember the system we are using asumes that starting characters are already a bit above the normal citizen of this galaxy.

That does leave the matter of the character of Lareg. I know quite a few options of build involve lightsaber use, so if you want to go that way, some form of lightsaber will be needed. But i'm not going to give you a 10.000 cred worth weapon as a starting weapon. The option i will give you is a training lightsaber. Those are 600 cred, and i would give you that for 500, so not even extra obligation or anything. Yes, these thing only do stun damage, but most people you encounter don't know that ;)
Plus we had at least 15 years of jedi /force user hunting by the empire, so i like the idea of lower force user to start with anyway. And the finding stuff for lightsabers can be great adventures themself, that we would be skipping then.

As for the basic story plan. We wil begin the story with all character being of a passenger liner coming from the galaxic south ( remember that the map in the books don't have north on top) to Nar Shadaa. Everyone can make up a reason for a character wanting to go there. After the starting session(s) we will be going wherever your actions/desicions or character desires take you, with a grand overlaying story arc that you can find ( or sometimes, it will find you ). This sounds a bit vague, but i also like to build on character backstories/ history and the view people have for the future of them.

I like GMing with a vision of: The world moves on, no matter wat players do. How the world moves on, that is where the players come in. Just like dealing with somethings, not dealing with them also has an influence.

The GM alredy aswered some of our questions and im fine with it. The training lightsaber works fine. And i like the idea of having an adventure to find a crystal for it.

Oh as low force user go, my character is FR 1, i never imagined hom to be stronger.

As someone asked yesterday, should we be part of the rebellion, or not? It's important because it determines if we use duty alongside obligation, or duty only, and the starting group resources.

My chracter is going to use morality as well, i like that mechanic a lot.

Given what the gm wrote earlier i'd say we aren't rebels, so we just use obligation.

As for group resources the thing all 3 books have in common is the ship, so i'd say we go for that. It doesn't mean we have to have one at start though.

Last thing, we don't know each other background but i think the GM should, so are we sending him our character sheets after we're done?

Um Lareg being a fully fledged Jedi means you have a bigger kill me sign than me flying an X-Wing into the Imperial Navy academy. So that 50 obligation is not THAT big allright we could lover to 30 and its not my job to determine it but please there was a Jedi Purge(I'd like to add that it wasn't the first one). And the propaganda machine was on full steam so lots of folks think the Jedi are evil. To react to your argument with the rebels series would be that they have an Inquisitor hunting them.

I like the idea of the open sandbox campaign it suits the theme of my character.

For Puracy: I'd like to recommend the usage of destiny deck but it should be kept as a secret form the others so it can be a big turning point in the encounter which not even the GM anticipates. However not to screw him over almost all non boost card has the phrase (GM's dicretion).

And i forgot something if i remeber it I'm gonna edit here. if there is not a new topic.

I prefer the from the bottom start up, and the freedom that our choices can lead us to. Developing the character from the ground sounds more fun for me, specially since i haven't played the game yet.

I don't really know the difference between duty/obligation, i got to ask, aren't they compatible ? I prefer not being rebel from the start, because it wouldn't make much sense for my character right now, but i could change the background if it is required.

Puracy, do you want us to send you the character sheets / background if we already have them ?

Going to Nar Shadda makes perfect sense to me ^^

As the majority of players and the gm has said that he wants starting characters, i'll roll with that.

I wouldn't have had a problem with an inquisitor on our trail, as a slightly experienced jedi, i'd have lots to have one as a starting character. XD XD (despite the fluff i don't think 150xp make a fully fledged jedi either).

Obligation and duty are meant to work together, but duty implies you're part of the rebellion already. If we join later we can add duty later, and it's an individual choice.

Sandbox world is fine.

Oh i am assuming we are a group of good inclined people, not murder hobos or slaver sympathysers.

I'm acually looking into the mechanics of the lightsaber aaand the hardest part to obtain is the focusing crystal everyting else could be salvaged from blasters or "easly" reproduced.

Yes, the crystal is the most difficult thing to obtain. Actually, with a training lightsaber available the crystal is the only thing needed, cause it can just replace the trining emitter to turn it into a lethal weapon. Another hard part would be modding it too, to get it to max potential, but i'll worry about it later.

We should also consider the ship, modyfing it is gonna be another money sink! XD

I'm thinking about the allmighty YT 1300(I'd prefer a 2400 i like it's looks more) as a gunship,
- Trade the weapons for quadlasers 16000®cred

- Targeting array 1hp 4000cred (optionally get the targeting computer from pathfinder(enter the unknown)

- Reinforced shielding 3800cred 2hp

- High output ion thrusters 1hp 5300cred

- Ecm suite 1hp 3000cred

Without mods it already costs 32100 credits it's a fortune.

For now we all start with obligation, and the everyone that is force sensitive will also get morality. When you join the rebelion, duty will be added. Even for someone who would start as a rebel. In the start, you're like a lone agent, withou the resources of the rebelion.

If or when the rebelion start being a part of our story, is up to the backgrounds and your actions as a party. Think of the movies, luke wanted to join, han ended up being part of because of everything that happened. And then there are characters like smugglers who work for the rebels, but are not part of them. Everything is possible.

Any char.sherts or back ground can be PMed to me, or else ask me their for my email.

About the ship: what your ship will be, is a in game thing. If it will be the perfect ship, is up to you. I might reduce all starting obligation values, to compensate the obligation the ship will give the group. But that is something that can even be altered before session 1. So for now, simply use the base value the book gives.
