challenge to the theorist

By Thralket Frostbane, in X-Wing

The rebellion is poor, and most of their command structure was small enough it could fit in one base (village) on yavin.

The imperials (bandits) outnumber and overwhelm the rebels and kill off a massive number of pilots (seriously, a significant number of pilots in our game are dead.)

Throw in the incredibly obvious sword fighting that occurs (however limited) and it's not hard to see that George Lucas basically combined the hero's journey with some decent samurai movies.

You're reaching here..

Those that died at Yavin, were not main characters... and therefore insignificant to this.. the Empire is not a bandit gang, and remain the main aggressor in the following movies..

Haha.. yeah, that was my implication there..

To be fair the OP didn't say he can beat Theorist currently for everyone making bets, just that he wants to surplant him someday as the best.

I have a 50 spot on Theorist for the win. Any takers?

No. Frankly I wish people would stop invoking his name; there's a very real possibility that it could conjure him up out of R'lyeh.

Eh, an epic 6 Falcon build with gunners could take on any Elder God.

Yeah, but the green slime of the nightmare corpse-city is so hard to get out of your carpet.

Well if someone can be known to be the best Squint pilot...

...Then I'll endeavor to become the best HWK pilot. Nobody else is doing it.

Ha!

As an imperial player it was hard for me to do it but when my buddies started claiming the hwk was useless I did step over there and show em the power or Roark and Jan. it was glorious after I got massacred the first game I flew it.

Lots of other people are doing it. We're just not winning Regionals with it.

It's a scary little thing.

If I were playing a rebel player and it popped up in the setup, an, "Oh s**t" would pop into my mind.

Oh, no doubt. "How do I deal with the HWK" is something that comes up in my head a lot when I see opponents field them; Roark and Jan really are game-changers. I think the biggest problem is that--like Lambdas, really--they're hard ships to netdeck, because you can't really just pop one in a list and suddenly be awesome with it. You have to take some time, get a good feel for the dial, get good at flying turrets, and figure out what tactics you need to use to ensure that your support ship's impact justifies its marginal cost.

Also... this is Star Wars... bushido has little bearing on this and is rather out of place. As well, Samurai are not part of the Star Wars universe...

Someone has their goober hat on today.

I don't even understand this thread.

But I saw a Darth Vader Samurai. And I had to throw this in:

Best HWK Pilot would probably be Tusken Tactician (the guy who wrote the Phantom article) but how the heck do you measure anything like this?

TO ALL WHO READ THIS, PASS WORD TO THEORIST ON THIS BECAUSE IT IS A PART OF THE SAMURAI RIGHT.

Dear Theorist;

I have heard that you are this planets foremost expert on the piloting of squints.

I hope that is no surprise to you that I hope to one day have that title.

I do intend to focus on finding every way to make a squint work for me to the point that all of them are my *****, which I intend to lovingly fly as they are just so much ******* fun. In addition to being imperial through and through; they are my favorite ship in the lore next to the clutch, and favorite ship in the x-wing miniatures game mechanics. I still hope; and dare I say, plan to hone my skills, and one day take the title of foremost squint pilot from you.

anyone with a shred of wisdom will understand that, important to have dreams, and goals; it is.

even though I do fully intend to take your squint title from you some day... that day is far in the future. So for now, I am content to try my skills against you whenever I can; although it may a while off yet; so that I can learn from you... even though it would seem that I have parsecs, if not light years to go in the game. the challenge is nothing more than relish and motivation to me.

in the name that is all BUSHIDO!!

I want to take your title as worlds best squint pilot with honor.

please continue to be the best... for you are the inspiration of my goals... please do not let them falter!

With all the respect and honor of achievements;

Ashen blade, Sir. Thralket Frostbane, The Volcano's fist, and; Sword of the Hearthlands.

thank you to those who understood and read what I started; yes it is ballsey but there is also the statement that " I have parsecs, if not light years to go in the game." That having been said, can I beat theorist in a squint duel... yes, there is dice luck and other luck that plays a part in almost every game. are my odds good... NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST. but since there are people putting odds on a match of me vs theorist, my response to those comments is you may know how to read, but cannot understand the words that you even speak.

this whole samurai argument is kind of beyond me as for it's validity since I used the words that I did to try and make it obvious that I had a respectful and honorable intent in saying what I did... although the samurai vader pics were bad ass
