Green squadron - simple first painting, pics

By michigun1, in X-Wing

Hi.

X-Wing is the my first miniatures game. This painting is my first experience :)
Why green? Because my 4 years old son is sure - green is the best color ever. Why? Because true dragons is green, and dragons are awesome.

I don't have enough experience with painting (especialy hard for me to paint line with equal edge) - so I will be grateful for any councils and links for novice.

Try using some washes as a way to get in the cracks, but you often have to do another original color coat,so it won't work on partial paints.

looks great!

Actually not bad for the size of these minis. From 4 feet away they are great. I have tons of painted guardsmen and gobbos. For heroes I try harder but for rank and file the 4 foot rule is great. Try a fine tipped paint marker. They have lots of colors at michaels.

As Hrathen says, washes are your friend. However that green really pops.

(Edit: maybe thin your paints a little. A couple of thin coats often gets a smooth effect)

That looks awesome! I can't paint X-wing minis that good and i already have tons of painted Crimson Fists and Skaven.

Edit: Also, your son is right. Green is the best color.

WOW! Those really pop! And look really wonderful. Nice job! Super flashy and the detail that got obscured isnt that much, so not too big of a deal.

Yeah, what the experienced wonderful people said about washing and layers and painting-whatnot.

thanks for idea. I didn't know about this kind of markers. I am not sure it will be simple to find it in Russia, but I'll try :)

Dude,

They look VERY cleanly painted. I like it a lot :)

Well done :)
