My initial build is BH, sigma squad phantom, and 2x saber squadron squints. Comes to 100 even.
It's not ideal, but packs a decent punch without any bells and whistles
Anyway you want, man.
My new fav is tactician on a BH. 35 points, tanky, and deadly at range 2.
I like Gunner. It pretty much guarantees damage.
Welcome to the party pal! Pretty much firespray + anything is workable. Miniswarm, phantom, defender , shuttle all work well with the firespray since it's the best all rounder in my book. IMHO the miniswarm or shuttle/firespray/defender are very good lists.
I like this:
Whisper
VI FCS Intelligence Agent and ACD
Bounty Hunter
Tactician
OGP
FCS
98 points for initiative.
I don't have a shuttle, so let's try this on:
BH, gunner
Echo, ACD
2x Black squadron
Firespray moves first, ties move with it, and echo does echo stuff.
That could work!
Many are dedicated to gunner, but I like to spend my points elsewhere instead of insurance (go big or go home I say). With TIEs in the mix, they will likely be the first targeted as they are the easiest to kill so the BH can TL early on and get a better chance of hitting.
FCS on a phantom is devastating too. It's so squirmy (essentially able to 0 k turn or take lateral hard turns) it's easy to keep the same target in arc consistently. So following rounds now you have 4 dice with TL and focus.
Run what you want though!
I might run
Echo, VI (VI is almost a must when coupled with ACD) FCS ACD
BH Tactician
BSP x2
Edit: for the points, you could downgrade your BSPs to academies and free up four more points for echo or BHs... If you're not putting EPTs on BSPs, the two points only gets them shooting earlier. That's has it's merits, don't get me wrong, but academies have their uses as well as blockers.

Don't forget keeping BSPs helps against Predator. APs give the enemy 2 rerolls instead of just one. Plus, with BSPs you shoot before Rookies, Blue Squadrons, etc.
Excellent point. So, maybe worth it. Obsidian squad does the same thing for one fewer point
.
I usually run the naked Firespray Bounty Hunter (33 points) with
Darth Vader + Engine Upgrade + Squad Leader (35 points), I use Darth as the flanker to hopefully spit the opponents force in two;
Dark Curse (16 points)
Backstabber (16 points)
100 Point Total
However, you could downgrade the TIE Fighters to Academy Pilots; equip the Firespray with a Heavy Laser Cannon and a bomb.
One build I like is
Kressis Trellix + HLC + Recon Spec. + Stealth Device
Howlrunner
3x Academy Pilots
Trellix's ability and cards have great synergy, allowing him to reroll dice and turn focus dice into hits. The Howlrunner and Academy Pilots are secondary attackers.
If you get a TIE Bomber then I would suggest you could have great fun with...
Krassis + HLC + Rec Spec
Capt. Jonus + (some kind of ordinance) + Determination
Howlrunner + Swarm
Jonus allows Krassis to reroll 3 of his 4 dice for the HLC, and you'll have focus to spare with the RecSpec. Keep Howl close and you'll fire at PS8 with Krassis. Put a PT or APT on Jonus and laffs will ensue as you chew through large ships in one or two turns.
Bounty Hunters can work with pretty much anything, but Rec Spec and/or HLC is always good.
