So now that stay in target is out in the open does this take the specialness away from bobas ability? I mean it already wasn't a very good ability IMO and now they add this upgrade card making his ability even less cool. I say they give him a new ability asap haha.
Edited by Jaden CkastBoba fett ability obsolete with stay on target?
Boba Fett was always obsolete. Over priced for what he offered. Hopefully we see him as a crew member or in another ship to do him the justice he deserves.
I agree with Boba being overpriced and his ability not making him justice (he should be able to land in asteroids withouth the shooting penalty imho). Anyways, Boba skill doesn't use an EPT slot, and the only one other Firespray with the EPT slot is Kath.
He's far from obsolete, do we think Wedge or any of the other pilots that have had their pilot skill turned into a EPT..
And even at his cost, Fett is far far from obsolete in game terms.. and why one would think 'always' is beyond me, he's durable and a straight up killer on the table..

Wedge's ability is still better than outmaneuver in every way though. The same can't be said for Boba Fett. For just one point more than Fett, you have a far more flexible version of Boba Fett's ability and the ability to throw stress on people if you crit.

Except you're missing the important fact that Boba Fett's ability doesn't give you stress when you use it. SOT isn't a more flexible version, it's often a less flexible version because you can't use it on consecutive turns and you have to give up your action. Bobba Fett allows you to change your maneuver and hit someone hard, SOT lets you occasionally get an un-modified attack instead of no attack at all.

This...
Also, I dont find the addition of a straight move and stress a huge advantage over Fetts flip flop move.. also when you add a navigator.. just awesome..
Don't get me wrong, I like SOT... but stress is bad in a game where your opponent can take advantage of it as well..

Fett's ability allows you to move in two directions. With the same speed. And only if you bank. Didn't bank? No Fett ability. So unless you're banking every turn, you'll have a lot less opportunity to use Fett's ability than SOT.
SOT on the other hand let's you move in five different directions of the same speed, regardless of which original move you did. For one stress, that's a steal.

Is that why he is used so frequently at tournaments? ![]()
Don't know, I don't go to tourneys... but I know many people use him.. so.. not obsolete... your mileage may vary..
I also don't consider tourneys to be the defining edge of the game.. many good players dont do tourneys.. for one reason or another.. and we here are a small percentage of the gaming community
Edited by onewayThis may be slightly tangential, but I'm hoping for a Boba crew card on one of the imperial huge ships, one that better represents his abilities:
Boba Fett
Crew
4 points
When attacking ships with a unique pilot name, you may roll an additional red die.
Not always 5 (actually only 4 different), it is dependant on your dial.. and you still get stress.. not as huge a deal as you propose I think.. in a game where your stress can be used against you, I dont care to have it too much..
There are very few cards (too few, in my opinion) that actively make use of your opponent having stress. Right now, stress isn't that big a deal. Which is why PTL Interceptors (which have stress every turn, all the time) are still being flown.
And for that small price, I get to move in four directions other than the dial I put down, compared to Fett who can only move in one different direction. And I can do so regardless of what move I put down, while Fett can only do so when he banked. Which means I can use it as a reaction when things go bad in any situation, whereas with Fett, you need to be lucky enough to have banked when things go south.
Stress is a positively tiny price to pay for that.
So speaking of farlander with stay on target and adv sensors has he become a super fett then? Basically he's taken over fetts ability and super charged it haha. Plus he would actually get 6 different moves to do because if you choose a 2 maneuver you get the 2 banks, the 2 hard turns, a straight and a Kturn as well. All for a stress which he then promptly spends when attacking allowing him to take an action the next round. So essentially 2 actions for free plus changing your move for free and for 5 points less than fett. Pretty bomb combo if I do say so myself.
Fair enough... as I said, I do like it and will probably get 2 ships so I have a couple to use... I just dislike stress.. and I fly Imperial.. lol

Oh your one of those haha jk. I prefer imperial as well but the rebels do have some fun ships and options coming out.

They do. I actually have a large compliment of both sides.. either for cards or the fact that when I bring the game, it's my ships we use.. so I need a large compliment.. lol
I do play the Rebs on occasion, but I prefer the Imps.. I usually get stuck with rebs if my opponeny is a hard core imp fan.. I just want people to have fun.. lol so I can sacrifice on occasion..
Is yet another thread on Boba Fett / Stay on Target / Navigator really needed?
Eesh.

The difference here is that PTL interceptors are taking stress but still get their action every turn AND a second action. A ship with SOT loses its action in addition to being committed to a very predictable green maneuver next turn. Boba Fett, on the other hand, has an ability that works in fewer situations but doesn't give up his action or limit his maneuvers next turn. So it's a choice between making yourself very predictable next turn in exchange for a shot with un-modified dice vs. having to commit to a bank but getting to shoot with focus + predator and having your recon specialist provide a second focus for defense.
Now, SOT is clearly going to be a useful upgrade, especially on Farlander, but let's not pretend that it doesn't have any drawbacks.
Edited by iPeregrineLet's not forget that you also use up your EPT slot for it. So no PTL, President, Outlander, DON, ect...
I don't think so, or the Ability of outmanouver get obsolte the ability of Wedge???, greettings.
Fettigator is the imperials best phantom killer. Slap VI on him and shoots first and has no problems getting a phantom shot lined up with that many moves available. I think Fett is now one of the games best options going into competetive play. I want to try running him with a phantom for two ships that can outmaneuver any reb ship it it's dreams.
