Which of these do you think is MORE important? Certainly both are, but which one stands out more?

1. Building to counter the Meta

OR

2. Building an efficient squad and simply getting good with it?

I think I have the answer...what do YOU guys think?

The meta is in complete flux. And you must always be good at playing what you're flying otherwise regardless of the match up you won't show well. So I suppose #2.

I think being good with your list gets you farther..with a known meta you'll get a lot of counter-meta tournament builds. And likely even some I see the meta, thought about the counter and here's my counter counter meta list. So it's a total crapshoot what you may face.

Know your list and at least have ideas concerning what you do versus high hull/ shield tank lists, can you counter Han shoots first? What if you but heads with a phantom? Can you fight the swarm?

Meta builds can work great or they can fall flat. An all around build that can take on anything that you are comfortable and competent with is a must. Everyone should have at least one go to list that is the one you continually run as a benchmark to try other list against. You also need to play the list you have trouble against so you can see both sides of why they are good and find weaknesses you can use against them.

Build a list you like, learn to run it WELL, make adjustments as needed and you will do better in the long run! Everybody has a "flying style" and building a list to fit that style is more important than anything else as it becomes natural or intuitive to play!
