Ok, so I've been experimenting with a new list of late.
Soontir Fel + Push the Limit (30 Points)
Academy Pilot (12 Points)
Omicron Group Pilot + Vader (24 Points)
Omicron Group Pilot + FCS + Gunner + Tactician + Engine Upgrade (34 Points)
100 Points Total
I've played this list several times now. It's a jack of all trades list, doing fairly decent against all comers, with few glaring flaws, but slightly disadvantaged against highly effective lists, such as armored Chewie lists and TIE Phantom lists.
How it works:
Soontir Fel + PTL is a fairly standard Interceptor setup. PS9, able to move after most things, and able to turtle up with focus, focus, evade, and stress as needed, or able to use his high maneuverability to escape arcs. He acts as a flanker and skirmisher, weakening the enemy while your heavy guns do the dirty work.
HackSaw Shuttle: This craft is speedy and brutal. Though now a well known combo, it is still quite effective. It can boost as an action, allowing it to cover great amounts of territory. When it shoots, the fun begins.
1) Attack
2) If attack is at Range 2, victim gets a stress.
3) Acquire Target Lock
4) If attack hit, end here. If miss, continue
5) Initiate Attack 2
6) Victim gets ANOTHER stress
7) Spend Target Lock to modify dice.
8) Get your target lock back
As it can easily flank and pounce, it's a great craft at hunting down the enemy and getting behind them. It has enough HP that it can withstand moderate fire without slowing down. The Albino Space Cow is not to be underestimated.
Doom Shuttle
This Alabaster Space-borne Disaster is a staple of many lists. High HP, good attack, and a terrible dial (with a couple tricks to it), it can suffer damage to cause crits. As the two previous craft has probably fired already, there's a good chance shields are gone, exposing the soft, critable underbelly. An excellent closer.
Academy TIE:
This ship functions as a blocker in this list. Getting in the way of enemies, depriving them of actions, its job is to act as bait and harassment.
Overall, the list is a fun list to play. There's a lot of fun to be had as all (but the Academy) have some novel use and interesting interaction. It's a good list to help people understand a wide variety of mechanics and, since the loss of any particular component doesn't sink the list, it can be a great teaching tool. Further, as it's generally strong against many common lists, it's a list I can recommend to moderately experienced players who want to try something new. Not a tournament capable list, at least at the premier level, as it struggles against two of the common and major threats.
