Survivability, Shuttle vs TIE Advanced

By udat, in X-Wing

Hi all,

I have been trying to plan a list with Vessery in it. Obviously he needs another ship that can TL to make his ability work.

I started off with this list: (100 pts)

Colonel Vessery (42)
TIE Defender (35), Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Omicron Group Pilot (21)
"Echo" (37)
TIE Phantom (30), Recon Specialist (3), Advanced Cloaking Device (4)
Then I noticed that a Tempest squadron pilot is the same points as the shuttle and I got to thinking, which would likely live the longest?
Basically 10 heath, 1 agility and large base/weak dial vs 5 health, 3 agility, small base and average dial. Which is the more survivable ship?
I am leaning towards the TIE Advanced, mostly because it can run away more easily...

The shuttle by pure health perspective. Per my effective health count, the Advanced has a rating of 7.4, the Shuttle 8.5. But the shuttle is also more likely to be targeted than the advanced, and that doesn't come into play at all.

Running a similar themed list, I took FCS on the Phantom to get those TL in for free! Might be more useful than the RS

The Advanced i think is more survivable, although in any other case it is, as i have said on other threads, a load of osik.

A great deal depends on how you play and the loadout for your ships.

Though going by the rest of your list you already have several agile ships...perhaps having one that possesses high HP/SP and potential area control via the large base would give your list more flexibility.

I'd say they're about equal on defense. However the shuttle has more offense, although the advanced is much more maneuverable.
