EPIC: Boss' Epic Terrain: Huge Asteroids & Outer Rim Facilities

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

The new Epic table needs new Epic Terrain. I am going to see about finishing all of these models this month.

:)

For all of the details you can read the X-Wing Epic Interstellar Terrain: Asteroids Part 1 article at B6*R7 Blog.

This project has been fun, and when I am done I think I might just have a nice looking Epic Game Environment.

^_^

The base materials consist of styrofoam and some old leftover tank parts I have had for years. Now that I am back into miniatures because of Star Wars X-Wing, I can get much better use out of these little bits than I got from them in my 40k daze.

In this image you can see all of the base carvings, which I am going to sculpt properly with foam and flex putties to make the nice details that I think cool asteroids should have. This sculpting stage will be the time for making clean plastic mounts for the guns and scanning equipment along with other technical details which some of the asteroids will feature.

BTW; I am listening to the glorious Toto DUNE ST while I write this.

If you Brother Wingers have any ideas that you think may add to the project, I would like to read your thoughts, otherwise I hope that you enjoy watching me make a few messes this month.

:)

Must add sock puppet for giant worm action. ^_^

I love this idea! I have been wanting to make some sort of space station/spacedock that the GR-75 and some other ships I have that I have adapted to use as terrain can simulate a deep space outpost. My plan is to use it in conjunction with this https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1621774283/battle-systemstm-sci-fi-modular-terrain , which I should have at my house in two weeks. I am working up a scenario where the rebels infiltrate a deep space outpost to steal a GR-75 and play the battle out using my hundreds of my WotC Star Wars Miniatures that are collecting dust. It should make for a fun campaign with my buds.

I am going to do that worm guy but without the socks.

Are you reading my mind now.

;)

I got some more work done on all of my craziness for glorious X-Wing EPIC. There are a lot of images and some word-stuff about it too: X-WING EPIC INTERSTELLAR TERRAIN - ASTEROIDS PART 2.

Here are a few of the almost cool shots.

:P:lol:^_^

The magnetized ball joint mounting for the models is about half done now. I will be able to interchange all of the asteroids with all of the bases and flight rods when I am done.

Verity is the spice as most of us know.

^_^

The first texture paint work is done on the basic Huge Asteroids. Now I can go crazy with proper sculpted detailing.

EISTHAWIP2Preview..jpg

I am adding my Rim Wraith special terrain to the project too now, since these crazy things are still just bigass asteroids... and I am working on asteroids so it fits just fine I reckon.

:)

Music to work by.

Oh yeah!

:D

Wait a minute... are those accessories for George-052 off to the side there?

Nope they are Rim Wraith Wraith Rock Heavy Blasters and Heavy Ion Cannons, with their armored mounting and such...

Hurray!

I might have some nice EPIC Terrain one of these days. X-WING EPIC INTERSTELLAR TERRAIN - ASTEROIDS PART 3

It is a lot of fun to work on all of this crazy stuff.

:D

So lazy... maybe like me, relax on Saturday then played video games while watching NFL on Sunday.

stayed up late watching American Dad season 11 premier

Seriously, all I did Saturday was lay about looking at the internet and worked on a sculpt for an X-Wing card tray(W.I.P. pic coming later next week, got to see how it looks on the table) and a prototype battery holder for vaping.

Good stuff, stick it in the scratch builds thread and help us show FFG the demand for a subforum for creating and painting
