Attacking Through Multiple Obstacles

By TheWanderingMiller, in X-Wing Rules Questions

The other day my opponent and I had a disagreement over rules. When attacking through multiple obstacles, does the defender receive 1 bonus defense die or 1 for each obstacle?

The FAQ addressed moving/landing on multiple obstacles and ruled that only 1 attack dice is rolled regardless of the number of obstacles moved through or overlapped. I believe this also follows for the question of bonus defense dice when shooting through multiple obstacles. "Did your movement template or ship base overlap an obstacle?" is similar to "Is the attack obstructed?" Both are Yes/No cases. There is no notion of how much overlapping occurred or how obstructed the attack is.

1 bonus die period for obstructed attacks. Not 1 per obstacle.

Just the one die.

The rules for obstructed attacks are binary in nature. Either you are or you aren't obstructed. If you are, the defender gets +1 die.

It doesn't matter if there's 1 or 12 between you, or even what they are.

The only change is a Huge ship with a upgrade which changes it from +1 to +3 dice, but even then you get +3 not +4.

Good to know. Thank you for confirming.

Quick question

What if it's two different objects.

A huge ship and an asteroid?

I'm sure this will come up in one of our games.

I know it's probably only plus one by never hurts to be sure
