Boba the knife fighter

The first iteration was :

Boba with Vet. Instincts

Academy Pilot x5

It did surprisingly well against most lists but often stumbled/felt clunky against highly mobile ships with higher PS.

Thus the later iterations involved Sabers with PTL as wingmen. They performed decently, but not great. Boba was the weak link and the the Sabers were too fragile/prone to lucky shots. So I never took the list to tournaments or game nights.

Then Imperial Aces was released:

Boba with Vet. Instincts

Royal Guard with Vet. Instincts, Title, Shield and Hull Upgrade. x2

Falcons gave me trouble, Swarms gave me a little less trouble. But I still had issues with mobile/high PS ships killing my Squints. Still didn't feel like bringing it to tournaments.

The current version - which I haven't had a chance to test yet:

Boba with Vet. Instincts, Navigator

Royal Guard /w PTL, Stealth Device x2

It feels awfully fragile, but can still match up against Phantoms and should do OK vs swarms.

Now - the big question is, can it take on 4-5 ship Rebels, Falcons, and if not, what would you then change - so that it can?

He actually does carry a knife.

For what he charges he can surely afford a vibroblade.

He doesn't need one when a knife will do, after disintegrations. :P

It's just a utility knife, and Vibroblades are big. Also a bit noisy. This thing? I've held it in SWG.

This thing is about 7.5in long from bottom of hilt to the tip of the blade at -most-. It's seriously just a utility knife, but handy due to its concealability.

Last time it came down to a direct hit on Whisper versus a 2 HP left Han Solo. And that was after Night Beast got slammed right away, and VI Wes Janson was on the team. So it did pretty well as far as Falcons go. Not victorious, but the player in question adores his Falcons and runs them alot.

I like this build too, but I'm gonna tweek it by removing DC and Recon Spec and add an Alpha Squad Interceptor. Leaves me at 98 pts for initiative.

Out of all my ships, the Firespray is the one I fly the most. In my honest opinion, Recon Spec is the number 1 crew member for it. It makes the Firespray much more survivable and can still add to the attack dice.

Why Kir Kanos with Stealth?

His ability is pretty mediocre and focus is better with stealth than evade. It seems like a RGP with an EPT and Stealth would be better.

Kir Kanos was my introduction and learning platform for interceptors. When I first started learning I picked up soontir and immediatley obliterated myself due to his crazyness, so a friend of mine took soontir away and handed me Kanos to 'slow me down' and learn it first :D

Fett is over priced. IMO you should add a shuttle or something to add some bulk to the list.

I've never thought Fett was good enough to be the main ship in a list. Way overpriced and a ho him ability.

I refuse to run Fett for the simple fact that I love the character and this game simply doesn't do him justice.

I hate shuttles and am a very horrible cow driver. I much prefer the double arcs of the firespray, and it's actually rare for me to use any other than the base Slave-1. However due to the increase of phantoms, I've started messing around with Fett lately and testing him out.

actually replacing recon spec. with RC would help versus other high PS pilots esp, echo/whisper and Han which r seeing loads of play right now. Tired of seeing han boost away from ur ships with EU? he wont be able to do it nearlyt bas well if he has to do a green manouvre b4 he boosts.

I have done some testing with RecSpec and I do see your point, my main issue with RecSpec is that it locks your actions down to one each turn - more or less. And the evade dice can still be finicky, whereas Captive is always a factor.

The real question would then be, which is better, Navigator (PS10 + Boba) or Captive (to help combat PTL pilots/Phantoms/be annoying)?

If you are going to be facing phantoms then Fettigator+VI seems like the best counter plus the Firespray is good vs anything and durable. With a phantom is the mix you should be able to get anyone you want in your sights for focused fire. I have only used the phantom once vs a falcon(Han) and it took several turns for Han to get a shot through the 4-5 agility. If Han has initiative though I can see it as being a bit more difficult on the phantom.

I think the OP was wondering about how he would fare against 4 ship Rebel lists, than the phantom guys...
