Hello all,
I'm hoping for some good ideas from the experienced players here.
Since having my baby eight months ago, I haven't been able to game at all. In two weeks my mom is coming to visit and she can take care of the girl while we play Arkham. Yay! Still, with the time it takes to set up, play, and clean up, we will probably only have one shot to get in a good game.
My question for you all is - if you were faced with this one game per eight months scenario, how would you play? I'm not looking for an *easy* game, but I wouldn't mind stacking the deck in my favor for an *exciting* game. I will be very pissed off if I spend my only chance to play and nothing much happens (every encounter is simply "a gate and monster appears") or I spend the whole game LiTaS.
What I'm hoping for is a three to four hour game which consists of a good fight. I don't want it to be a pushover game, nor do I want my investigators to be so heavily outmatched that there is no point in going through the motions of trying to win. I have all the expansions and Strange Eons so I could print out any fan made materials that were suggested. I thought about just playing through one of the scenarios from the Arkham League since they are self contained adventures with specific goals.
Any suggestions (investigators, GOOs, expansions, house rules, any fan material, etc.) would be greatly appreciated. I have two weeks in which I can separate out the expansions and/or put together a specific scenario. I should probably also mention that we aren't particularly excellent players. I've probably played 10-15 times and some of the group have played < 5 times. However, we all love the thematic setting of the game and the sense of creeping doom that it evokes.
Thanks again in advance.
